Assistant Practice Manager – New Milford & Sharon OB/GYN, NM Women's Wellness Center Full‑time, 40 hours per week (8‑hour shifts, 8:00 am – 4:30 pm). Work schedule: 2 days at New Milford Hospital, 2 days at New Milford Women’s Wellness Center, 1 day at Sharon Hospital.

Sharon OB/GYN – 50 Hospital Hill Rd, Sharon, CT

New Milford Women’s Wellness Center – 21 Elm Street, New Milford, CT

Salary: $28.78 – $53.45 hourly (based on relative experience).

About the Role The Assistant Practice Manager reports to the Practice Manager and is responsible for providing leadership, management, and oversight for their assigned medical practice. The role works with providers and staff to optimize patient flow, reduce errors, and improve access to services and the patient experience. Additional responsibilities include managing performance indicators, staffing, scheduling, budgeting, compliance, and physical plant maintenance.

Key Responsibilities

Manage day‑to‑day operations of the medical practice including oversight of clerical support staff and clinical support staff.

Assist in the development and implementation of short‑term and long‑term goals in conjunction with leadership to grow the business and increase market share.

Measure, review, and meet key performance indicators (KPIs).

Manage provider scheduling templates, hours/days of service, no‑show rates, and cancellations to ensure appropriate patient access.

Manage and monitor staffing levels to established system benchmarks, participate in staff hiring process, SBAR development, staff orientation, performance reviews and any disciplinary action.

Responsible for hiring, discipline, grievance management, performance evaluations, feedback and coaching to achieve optimal team performance.

Proactively solve problems, administrative issues, or patient complaints in a timely and effective manner.

Train and educate staff to ensure compliance with health system policies and procedure, compliance program and any federal/state regulations.

Ensure that all front‑end processes are clear and well‑executed to support a positive patient experience as well as efficient and accurate billing.

Hold monthly meetings with providers and non‑provider staff and communicate any practice or health system changes and solicit feedback from the team members.

Meet with providers monthly to review provider dashboard results including profit and loss statements and practice variances; develop action plans to meet or exceed KPIs.

Identify any capital needs and review operating budget to ensure budgets are met.

Manage and maintain medical practice physical plant, equipment, and inventory control.

Provide oversight of patient registration, check‑in, point of service collections and correction of practice management system entry errors in coordination with Revenue Cycle.

Provide guidance and assistance with scheduling new provider interviews, onboarding, and any health plan credentialing activities.

Maintain and model Nuvance Health Foundational Values (Personal, Imaginative, Agile, Connected).

Perform other duties as required.

Required Qualifications

Associate degree required or equivalent experience; Bachelor’s degree preferred.

Minimum two years in a supervisory role within a medical practice environment.

Strong interpersonal, telephone and computer skills (Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint).

Working knowledge of practice management and electronic medical record software systems (Soarian/Cerner preferred).

Strong knowledge of ICD‑10, CPT & HCPCS coding.

Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Ability to travel within Nuvance Health system locations.
