L2 Data Center Technician - B Side Day

– Contract – Mt. Pleasant, WI
Pay: $28.00/hr
Work schedule: B side Days – Thursday, Friday, Saturday, and every other Wednesday 6a‑6p. Non‑standard business hours include weekends and holidays.
Job Responsibilities
Perform Level 1 tasks as needed.
Move servers and switches to required destinations for installation.
Inspect servers and switches to ensure they are not damaged.
Install servers and switches and cable them according to provided wire maps.
Bundle all cables neatly and in accordance with standards.
Double‑check with network admins to confirm all connections are correct.
Install additional components (NIC, drive, memory) as required.
Assist in unboxing and prepping servers as needed.
Audit servers and consumables.
Troubleshoot servers and isolate the problem.
Order replacement parts and ship defective parts to vendors.
Update server firmware.
Configure IP addresses and default login credentials on servers.
Assist network admins with server issues, including cable replacement, port re‑routing, optical replacement, part upgrades, and component installation.
Temporarily rack and stack a server or switch in a cabinet and cable it for remote configuration.
Deploy and configure GPUs in servers.
Perform break‑fix tasks, troubleshooting and replacing faulty components.
Qualifications
High school diploma, GED, or equivalent.
Basic knowledge of computer hardware, servers, and components.
Basic Microsoft Office skills (Outlook, Excel, Word).
Flexibility to work non‑standard hours, weekends, and holidays.
Ability to lift up to 35 pounds.
Ability to climb ladders when necessary.
Ability to wear personal protective gear correctly.
Ability to stand and walk for extended periods.
2–3 years of experience in a data center environment.
Skills & Certifications
CompTIA A+ or equivalent.
CompTIA Server+ or equivalent.
CCENT or equivalent.
Windows OS experience.
CCNA certification preferred.
MCP/MSCE certification preferred.
PowerShell, Python, Bash scripting experience.
Structured cabling, rack & stack, fiber, and optical testing.
Storage device knowledge.
Ticketing system experience.
ITIL knowledge (ITSM, Change Management, Problem Management).
Network fundamentals (OSI Layers 1–3).
Cable installation and termination (Copper and Fiber Optic).
GPU deployment and troubleshooting.
OSHA30 or higher certification.
