Job Summary

The Assistant Residence Life Coordinator is a live-on full-time professional staff member responsible for operational functions of the department, related to the overall development of a positive residential living and learning environment. The functions include but are not limited to managing residence hall maintenance issues, supervising and training residence hall student and professional staff, providing support for residents, and communicating with other departments about residents' needs. Job Duties

Supervise resident assistants and other student employees dorm council Interview, select, train, and manage all residence hall staff members in their area of responsibility Lead, instruct, and meet goals of Residence Life committees assigned by the Residence Life Coordinator Work with the Residence Life Coordinator to design and execute programs, trainings and activities which will continually motivate and support the Ras Train, assist, and guide RAs in providing programing to their residents that is consistent with the given expectations of Residence Life Work with the Residence Life Coordinators to evaluate the effectiveness of programs and trainings that then provide measurable goals for future departmental staff training and development Provide academic, personal, and social advising to residents as needed, making appropriate referrals to student support departments, particularly as it relates to roommate conflicts, mental well-being, and developing independence Communicate and assist the Residence Life Coordinator, Crisis Team, the Attendance and Conduct Manager, Counselors, and other departments on campus in regard to situations that arise in Residence Halls Maintain a safe, clean, friendly, and responsive environment within the residence hall Address and monitor all safety, conduct, and repair needs promptly, by conducting weekly building walks and inspections, documenting concerns through the correct systems, and keeping detailed records of all documented issues related to the facilities in order to keep the Residence Life Coordinator and facility, and ASFA aware of issues in the area Assist RAs, with room/building inspections as requested or needed Meet with residents about room inspections if RAs are not able to get residents to understand the importance of room health and safety Work with residents, parents, and staff in rectifying residence hall concerns and issues Communicate with residents, parents, and staff about ongoing issues and concerns in a timely manner setting realistic expectations and goals while making sure everyone has appropriate information Complete all administrative paperwork as assigned accurately and by the given deadlines Read, monitor, and report on weekly reports sent by Ras Ensure that keys and resident information is secured and readily available as needed Provide professional, courteous service to all residents, staff, guests, and visitors Be an active participant in the Residence Life Community Attend weekly staff and committee meetings as scheduled or directed by the Residence Life Coordinator Participate in on-call duty rotations Qualifications

Minimum of two years or four academic semesters of living or working in a residential / education environment Capable of effectively managing multiple residence life issues and functions simultaneously. Capable of handling multiple tasks, managing and working with a diverse group of individuals Must possess and exhibit a positive attitude; must be flexible and understand the principles of a team environment. Special Shift Requirements (Example: Ability to work evenings/weekends/holidays as required.) Able to navigate stairs Able to lift 25 lbs Able to operate a computer and other office equipment Effective communicator possessing the ability to be sensitive to the needs and desires of students, parents, and staff Preferred Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in education, business, or closely related field Must have a valid Driver's License To Apply:
