Assistant Buyer
The Merchandising Assistant Buyer is an individual contributor position that supports the Merchandising Department and works with replenishment, purchase orders, filing and other daily tasks. The Assistant Buyer is a Merchandising blended role that specializes in Men's, Women's & Children's western & work lifestyle footwear, clothing and accessories. The position reports to a Merchandising Buyer. This role requires a high degree of detail, analytical skill and productivity. The position must possess a driven, quality-focused mentality and be passionate about Merchandise. This role must be determined to deliver results through continuous improvement of their abilities and improvement of the department. The ability to work across multiple departments and alignment with Cavender's brand is required. This role has a strong focus on the customer experience, professionalism and partnership internal and external to Cavender's. Duties and Responsibilities Support the "Cavender's Culture" and drive our Mission, Vision, and Values Serve as a partner and key support resource to the company Act as a senior support to junior Merchandising Assistants Data entry and purchasing system maintenance

Vendor contact via email and phone Vendor liaison for PO cancellations and maintenance Liaison between Boot Merchandising Department and Web Photographers/Merchandisers Store Liaison for project email responses Social Media / Marketing Email Research & Logs Sample organization and returns Pulling samples for TAB photography, marketing, and review Planogram boards and books PO Confirmations for Bulk & Container Orders Filing
Projects as assigned Qualifications and Requirements High school diploma or equivalent Experience with Microsoft Windows Operating Systems and Office Suites (Word, Excel, Outlook) 3+ years of progressively successful Merchandising Department experience in a retail environment Ability to interpret documents Ability to apply abstract principles to a wide range of complex tasks Ability to understand the meanings of words and effectively respond Ability to comprehend complex issues and communicate Associate must be able to read English. Associate must be able to understand English Associate must be able to stay alert during work hours assigned Based in Tyler, TX at our home office; Tyler area residence Ability to travel to meet the needs of the company, up to 10% of the time Preferred Skills Ability to handle confidential materials and matters with maximum discretion Strong team player with excellent collaboration skills Fast and accurate entry in all systems/Microsoft Suite Excel knowledge including: formulas, sorting, headers and footers, copy and paste, subtotals, sizing and page breaks, and freeze panes Jesta, Vision, Essentus, Serenade and Micros experience a plus Strong written and verbal communication skills Project Management skills in a Merchandising/Buying department 5+ years of general experience in a retail environment Cavander's is an Equal Opportunity Employer.
