Principal Materials Engineer, Critical Materials Management
The assured supply of critical materials and the resiliency of their supply chains are essential to U.S. national security and Lockheed Martin enterprise performance. Lockheed Martin is heavily dependent on foreign sources of critical materials including microelectronics, Rare Earth Elements (REEs), and critical minerals, resulting in potential strategic vulnerabilities to both our customers and the business. Mitigating critical materials risks is essential and consistent with the National Security, National Defense, and Lockheed Martin's strategies for a resilient and assured supply chain. The Lockheed Martin Critical Materials Management Principal Materials Engineer will be responsible for: Developing LM's Critical Materials Management strategy and subsequent strategy execution to continually and proactively assess and mitigate risks in support of our programs and customers Supporting the cross-functional Enterprise Critical Materials Working Group to provide leadership and drive execution of the team's charter Supporting several Critical Materials-related Rapid Response Teams to aggressively address emerging obsolescence and critical shortages and proactively establish a rapid insertion parts list for key products and technologies to reduce redesign and requalification lead times Developing appropriate Enterprise-wide cross-functional procedures and processes to drive Critical Materials risk awareness and mitigation throughout entire program lifecycle The Principal Materials Engineer will leverage resources across the enterprise, government, and customer areas to develop and drive required mitigation plans in support of our program and business commitments. This involves fostering collaboration and alignment among business areas and functional teams in terms of design, supply chain, quality, program management, and government affairs processes. Specific collaboration will be required with the Global Supply Chain Organization (GSCO) to align with Illumination efforts and future data availability and Supply Chain Transformation efforts to establish new capabilities. The Principal Materials Engineer, Critical Materials Management will report to the Senior Manager, Critical Materials Management. This role can be performed from any major Lockheed Martin site/location and may require travel. US Citizenship is required for the role. Basic Qualifications
