We are actively seeking a Production Assistant Manager in our Stamping Department to join the JIC team! Core hours are Monday - Friday 2:00 pm to 10:30 pm.
Role: Oversee Safety, Quality, Cost, Delivery and Management activities in assigned Stamping Bays including daily operations as well as continuous improvement
Responsibilities:
•Responsible for assisting with the management of the Stamping Department including the supervision of assigned Coordinators
•Assist with managing SQCDM activities, improving and stabilizing key areas and COP activities
•Assess production floor and assist with manpower, press, die, quality, productivity, associate and safety issues
•Assist with reviewing and prioritizing press, die, quality and production issues
•Assist with required reporting including Business Plan, inventories, production reporting and any other production issues
•Coordinate activities with opposite shifts
•Assist in coordinating activity with weekend/shutdown work Job Description
•Should be crane and forklift certified within 6 months of being in position
•Visually monitoring daily of all assigned associates wearing proper PPE (This includes Rework and other abnormal situations)
•Visually monitor daily the Lock Out / Tag Out procedure is being followed
•Visually monitor daily proper parts handling practices (Lifting of parts, wearing gloves/sleeves, how many parts are being lifted, push/pull practices, etc...)
•Walk assigned area and direct associates to proper locations in emergency situations or drills
•Assist as needed in head counts and report information to the Security Channel
•Visually monitoring daily that associates work area is free of clutter (clean/open aisle ways, no oil/wood/scrap on floor, die not over lines, etc...)
•Recognize and address all Safety concerns/violations in their assigned areas
•Understand all quality requirements in their area. Follow all JIC quality procedures and work instructions
•Read QA white board notes at the start of the shift. Follow up on any issues current or from previous day when needed
•Oversee that information has been communicated to associates and leadership by checking daily with individuals (ask questions to assure associates have been informed)
•Oversee daily dock check sheets are being performed according to types of issues that arise
•Visually monitor training is taking place and all associates have been trained on their work instructions/PPH documents
•Monitor 200% check parts list and look for ways to eliminate root cause to get parts off of 200% check
•Confirm daily that production is met in the most efficient way possible
•Make judgement daily of disposition of all rework and scrap parts in Stamping Department
•Oversee all overtime worked and keep to a minimum
•Visually check gloves/sleeves, markers, small tools etc... usage to maintain budgets in Stamping Department
•Verify Coordinator and hourly associate time sheet, checking hours worked and sheet is complete before turning in to AR
•Visually monitor daily that labeling procedures are being followed according to work instructions (This includes blank stacks)
•Visually monitor daily that correct containers and placards are being used (when applicable)
•Monitor daily production schedule and verify schedule every 2 hours to ensure production is being met according to customer requirements
•Monitor and communicate daily any on-going issues with press, die or other items that may result in delivery delays to customer are relayed to Stamping Manager and Production Control group
•Assist in verification of PLEX discrepancies when contacted by Coordinator, Team Leader or Production Control
•Support in managing that presses run through breaks/lunches as needed
•Understand daily what dies are in Die Maintenance that could affect the daily production demand and check progress of repairs
•Visually monitor daily that the dial SPM matches the established SPM in PLEX. If not, understand why the gap and seek possible countermeasure activity •Continuously monitor die changes and insure they are being performed to maximum efficiency
•Following a Safety, Quality, Cost or Delivery incident in your assigned area, it is your responsibility to notify Stamping Manager, investigate, ensure countermeasure activity has been completed and all paperwork associated with incident is complete
•Verify daily start-up meetings take place
•Assist leadership team daily on manpower adjustments to fulfill press and production requirements
•Track and report daily manpower shortages to Manager
•Communicate daily all production issues that arise (Safety, Quality, Associate, etc...)
•Report downtime to Manager and Maintenance Manager if longer than 30 minutes and/or repeat items are occurring
•Perform Coaching and Counseling activities with associates as needed on a timely basis (Within 2 days max)
•Walk area daily checking press area cleanliness to insure 5S is completed
•Verify associates are staying busy at their work station until the end of the shift
•Support all new Model activities and lead trial activities with the team
•Complete a time sheet if overtime is worked. Turn in to supervisor for signature
•Complete Coordinator evaluations yearly as scheduled
•Verify Team Leader evaluations are completed as scheduled
•Oversee associate vacation days are being scheduled effectively, all paperwork is turned in to AR on time
•Follow Environmental & Quality Policy and Work Instructions.
•Oversee, perform and/or coordinate training as needed
•Oversee, investigate, adjust and/or train on all PLEX issues that arise
•Attend any meetings requested by Manager (Quality, Business Plan, Shift, Manager's Mtg, etc...)
•Oversee PLEX (weekly blank cycle counts being performed and completed, associates and management team understand and are using PLEX, everything is being scanned when moved)
•Verify Production Scoreboards are on and functioning correctly
•Verify and sign-off (if needed) that daily paperwork such as QC & Accuracy Check sheets. Forklift and Crane Start-Up check sheets, Rework Check sheets, Misset sheets & Set-Up Check sheets are being completed correctly
