JOB DESCRIPTION This expansion role is for a Network Architect in the DC/MD/NoVA/RTP metro areas to perform on‑site and project‑based consulting with various customers to architect, design, and support the implementation of multi‑vendor network infrastructures, with a strong preference for Cisco‑based network experience. Additionally this critical addition to our talented team will do assessments and work on business development efforts with our Sales and our Systems Architecture teams.

In this role, you will:

Assess, design, implement, troubleshoot, and document Cisco networks and related systems

Develop both high‑level and detailed implementation and test plans for Cisco technologies related to enterprise networks

Provide knowledge transfer and informal training to clients

The successful candidate will be a self‑starter who is able to work in a team environment and can resolve issues independently and as a senior member of a team. Having a positive attitude, excellent customer service skills, and strong clear communication (verbal and written) capabilities is key.

A typical day in this role would include high‑level and detailed design, implementation, operations, troubleshooting and issue resolution. You will develop documentation as it relates to project requirements, and assist with or develop customer facing presentations of technology solutions.

QUALIFICATIONS

Cisco Certified Internetwork Expert (CCIE) or CCIE level expertise in Enterprise Infrastructure (formerly Route/Switch), Security, Data Center or Service Provider

10+ years of experience in the design of large enterprise networks

Good understanding and practical experience with routing protocols (EIGRP, OSFP, and BGP)

Familiarity with Virtual Private Network (VPN) and firewall technologies (Cisco, Palo Alto, Juniper, Check Point, etc)

Must be able to work with end‑users, communicate clearly, and meet deadlines

While not an absolute must, practical experience with designing and deploying Network Management Systems / IT Management Systems solutions from vendors such as SolarWinds, Cisco, Sales Logic, SevOne or CA is a VERY STRONG plus

Experience with Nexus 7K/5K/2K/100V switches

Familiarity with SAN technology including FC, FCoE, and iSCSI

Familiarity with VMware virtual and storage environments

Familiarity with Software Defined Networks

Network programmability for automating network tasks is a plus

Familiarity with Network Security Technologies like ISE, Zero Trust, SDA, Segmentation

Good understanding and practical experience with switching technologies (Spanning tree, EtherChannel, Port Security, 802.1X, MAB)
