Job Description
SouthLaw, P.C., a nationally recognized leader in the mortgage banking and creditor’s rights industry, seeks an energetic, highly motivated and results-oriented attorney who is interested in an environment which demands legal reasoning, independent thought and creative problem solving. The firm specializes in foreclosure, bankruptcy, evictions, real estate collections and related civil litigation. The current opening for the attorney position is in the Commercial and Special Assets department in the Firm’s Overland Park, KS office.
The successful candidate will be responsible for representing creditors and financial institutions in collection actions. General duties include representing creditors in money judgment collection matters, reviewing legal documents, drafting legal pleadings, contract interpretation, dispute and issue resolution, negotiating settlements, communicating with clients and opposing counsel and assisting with the management of support staff. Some court appearances and limited travel to surrounding metropolitan counties will be expected.

Qualifications / Experience
Must be licensed to practice law in Kansas and Missouri
Application for licensure in Iowa and Nebraska will be requested within 6 months from date of hire
2-5 years general civil court experience or comparable experience is preferred
Knowledge of creditor rights law and experience handling collections matters is beneficial but not required
Proficiency with electronic documents and general computer literacy
Eligible to work in the United States
