Maintenance Technician II Location

Carolinas Medical Center; Charlotte, NC. Hours

Rotating days, 12‑hour shifts. 6:00 PM – 6:00 AM. Every other weekend. Major Responsibilities

Perform facility and equipment maintenance in accordance with applicable codes and standards; document through CMMS. Troubleshoot and repair mechanical equipment (motors, pumps, conveyors, doors, fans, boilers, heat exchangers, controls) with moderate guidance. Troubleshoot and repair patient care equipment (beds, wheelchairs, carts, tables) not maintained by other departments. Troubleshoot and repair mechanical/electrical systems (pneumatic tube, HVAC, refrigerators/freezers, ice machines, kitchen equipment, electrical, plumbing, medical gas, specialized water) with moderate guidance. Perform general maintenance functions in grounds maintenance, carpentry, painting, and snow removal. Respond to emergencies (leaks, floods, water outages, fires, power outages, equipment failures) as directed. Respond to building occupant requests in a timely, professional manner; conduct zone maintenance rounding and keep requesters apprised of status. Conduct preventive maintenance and perform equipment safety checks. Inspect and repair fire doors, hardware, firewalls and smoke partitions. Read blueprints and maintenance manuals for assignment completion. Licensure, Registration, and/or Certification Required

Driver's license required. Education Required

High school diploma or GED equivalent. Experience Required

2–4 years of experience in equipment maintenance. Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Required

Basic computer skills (CMMS, building automation system, Microsoft Office). Good communication and interpersonal skills. Physical Requirements and Working Conditions

Must be able to sit, stand, walk, lift, squat, bend, crawl, reach above shoulders, and twist frequently. Must be able to lift up to 15 lbs. from floor to overhead, up to 50 lbs. from floor to chest‑level, and up to 50 lbs. at waist height a reasonable distance. Must be able to push/pull with 50 lbs. of force. Exposure to electrical and mechanical hazards; knowledge of safety precautions. Position requires travel; may be exposed to road/weather hazards.
