Maintenance Technician II – Atrium Health Wake Forest Baptist, Lexington Medical Center, Lexington, NC.

Responsibilities

Perform facility and equipment maintenance in accordance with applicable codes and standards, documenting work in the computerized maintenance management system (CMMS).

Maintain, troubleshoot and repair mechanical equipment such as motors, pumps, conveyors, doors, fans, boilers, heat exchangers and controls with moderate guidance.

Maintain, troubleshoot and repair patient‑care equipment (beds, wheelchairs, carts, tables) not maintained by other departments.

Maintain, troubleshoot and repair mechanical/electrical systems including pneumatic tube, HVAC, refrigeration/freezers, ice machines, commercial kitchen equipment, electrical, plumbing, and medical gas systems with moderate guidance.

Handle routine to moderately complex general maintenance functions in grounds maintenance, carpentry, painting and snow removal.

Respond to emergencies such as leaks, floods, water outages, fires, power outages and equipment failures per emergency response plans.

Respond to building occupant requests, perform zone maintenance rounding and keep requesters informed of status.

Conduct preventive maintenance and perform equipment safety checks.

Inspect and repair fire doors, hardware, firewalls and smoke partitions.

Read blueprints and maintenance manuals to gain knowledge needed to complete assignments.

Licensure, Registration, and/or Certification

Driver’s license required.

Education

High school diploma or GED equivalent.

Experience

2–4 years of experience in equipment maintenance.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

Basic computer skills (CMMS, building automation, Microsoft Office).

Effective communication and interpersonal skills.

Physical Requirements and Working Conditions

Lift and move objects up to 50 lbs (floor to chest, waist‑height, or overhead). Lift and pull 50 lbs of force.

Stand, walk, lift, squat, bend, reach above shoulders, twist, and crawl throughout the workday.

Work in environments with electrical and mechanical hazards, road/weather hazards, and on a rotating shift schedule.

Required to travel to facility sites as needed.
