Position contingent on contract award.
This position will be based at JB Langley‑Eustis, VA.
Responsibilities We are seeking a Network Engineer to join our team supporting the Air Force Information Network (AFIN), a vital digital communications infrastructure for the Department of the Air Force (DAF). This position is integral in managing and enhancing the AFIN, which provides high‑speed, reliable, and secure network solutions across Active‑Duty Air Force, Air Force Reserve, and Air National Guard bases worldwide. The Network Engineer will work closely with various stakeholders to ensure the seamless operation of network systems, contributing to the Warfighter's access to real‑time Command and Control (C2) information.
Plan, design, and evaluate new and existing computer network systems, including LANs, WANs, and intranets.
Administer and maintain the BMC Remedy AR System server and related systems.
Oversee the administration and maintenance of F5 Global and Local Traffic Managers.
Manage and maintain Oracle database Real‑Time Application Cluster (RAC) and Grid Control.
Perform security and maintenance patching on a scheduled basis and conduct quarterly security audits.
Support the integration and testing of EITSM system upgrades and third‑party applications.
Troubleshoot network issues and provide effective solutions to enhance network performance.
Create and maintain documentation related to network configurations, processes, and service records.
Monitor network performance and provide statistics and reports to management.
Act as a technical liaison between clients, vendors, and internal teams to resolve issues as needed.
Qualifications Desired Education & Experience:
Bachelor's degree in Systems Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field.
Minimum of 8 years of experience, preferably on Department of Defense (DoD) programs.
Completion of F5 University Training Courses, including:
Getting Started with BIG‑IP: Part 1 - Administration
Getting Started with BIG‑IP: Part 2 - Application Delivery
Getting Started with Local Traffic Manager: Part 1 - HA and Traffic Processing
Getting Started with Local Traffic Manager: Part 2 - iRules and Accelerating Traffic
Getting Started with BIG‑IP DNS
Minimum Certification Requirements:
Information Assurance (IA) Technician (IAT) Level II (DODM 8140)
Potentially Required Certification(s):
Microsoft Azure Administrator or equivalent
Linux+ Certification
BMC Certified Administrator: BMC Remedy IT Service Management 8.x and/or equivalent
Security Clearance Valid DoD Secret clearance is required. Additionally, NATO Secret and/or DoD Top Secret/SSBI clearances, favorably adjudicated for SCI eligibility, are required at certain locations.
The successful candidate must meet eligibility requirements to access sensitive information, which requires U.S. citizenship.
