The Sheriff’s Office provides public safety at all times and therefore every position is deemed essential. All positions are in-person and not eligible for remote work. Every position is also subject to recall based on the needs of the Office to keep the community safe.
This position has an anticipated work schedule of Monday – Friday, 8:00am – 4:30pm, subject to change.

Coordinates and performs manual and computerized bookkeeping activities in accordance with established procedures. Maintains accounts payables and receivables, processes purchase orders, prepares financial reports to ensure accurate and efficient financial operations and assists with annual budget preparation.
Audits expenditures, encumbrances, and revenues for each division budget; reconciles with County Finance accounting system summaries.
Processes vendor invoices in the County Finance accounting system to initiate timely and accurate payments.
Prepares and issues purchase orders, requisitions, and invoices for services rendered.
Prepares and distributes monthly financial reports, quarterly reports to federal agencies and verifies reimbursements are received via electronic deposits.
Coordinates the issuance of purchase and travel cards to employees and monitors expenses to verify guidelines are being followed.
Reconciles purchase/travel card transactions and vendor statements and verifies account accuracy and resolves and discrepancies.
Tracks travel and training expenses for employees.
Manages petty cash disbursements and compiles receipts for reimbursement through the County Finance accounting system.
Collects all revenue received by the Sheriff's Office and remits deposits to the County Finance Department.
Assists with Capital Assets: Additions, Deletions, and Annual Inventories.
Assists divisions with budget preparation and requests.
Conducts research and provides financial data analysis within the accounting system as needed.
Performs other duties as required.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Must be honest, truthful, trustworthy, and possess a high degree of personal integrity.
Knowledge of general accounting practices and procedures.
Knowledge of and ability to use office equipment, including computer, calculator, copier and telephone.
Proficiency in computer Microsoft Office applications.
Ability to perform math calculations quickly and accurately.
Must be detail oriented and ensure accuracy in work.
Maintain regular and punctual attendance.
Required Education and Experience:
High school diploma or equivalent education
Minimum two years experience in accounting or accounts payable
Preferred Education and Experience:
College degree in accounting
Licenses/Certificates:
Must possess and maintain a valid driver's license
Must obtain and maintain Criminal Justice Information System (CJIS) Compliance within six months of employment
Pre-Employment Requirements:
Must pass conditional post offer background investigation, truth verification examination, motor vehicle record check, and drug screen.
Duties are primarily performed in an office environment. Occasional overtime on weeknights and/or weekends may be necessary.
