Job Summary Salary commensurate with qualifications.
All positions are in-person, not eligible for remote work, and subject to recall based on the needs of the Office.
The position has an anticipated work schedule of Monday – Friday, 8:00 am – 4:30 pm, subject to change.
Essential Duties / Responsibilities
Assess expenditures, encumbrances, and revenues for each division budget; reconcile with County Finance accounting system summaries.
Process vendor invoices in the County Finance accounting system to initiate timely and accurate payments.
Prepare and issue purchase orders, requisitions, and invoices for services rendered.
Prepare and distribute monthly financial reports, quarterly reports to federal agencies and verify reimbursements are received via electronic deposits.
Coordinate the issuance of purchase and travel cards to employees and monitor expenses to ensure guidelines are followed.
Reconcile purchase/travel card transactions and vendor statements, verify account accuracy, and resolve discrepancies.
Track travel and training expenses for employees.
Manage petty cash disbursements and compile receipts for reimbursement through the County Finance accounting system.
Collect all revenue received by the Sheriff’s Office and remit deposits to the County Finance Department.
Assist with Capital Assets: Additions, Deletions, and Annual Inventories.
Assist divisions with budget preparation and requests.
Conduct research and provide financial data analysis within the accounting system as needed.
Perform other duties as required.
Qualifications
Must be honest, truthful, trustworthy, and possess a high degree of personal integrity.
Knowledge of general accounting practices and procedures.
Knowledge of and ability to use office equipment, including computer, calculator, copier, and telephone.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
Ability to perform math calculations quickly and accurately.
Must be detail oriented and ensure accuracy in work.
Maintain regular and punctual attendance.
Required Education and Experience
High school diploma or equivalent education.
Minimum two years of experience in accounting or accounts payable.
Preferred Education and Experience
College degree in accounting.
Licenses / Certificates
Must possess and maintain a valid driver's license.
Must obtain and maintain Criminal Justice Information System (CJIS) Compliance within six months of employment.
Pre-Employment Requirements
Must pass conditional post‑offer background investigation, truth verification examination, motor vehicle record check, and drug screen.
Work Conditions Duties are primarily performed in an office environment. Occasional overtime on weeknights and/or weekends may be necessary.
