Job Overview The Health Unit Coordinator facilitates unit operations and assists with all clerical duties on the patient unit, including greeting patients and visitors as they arrive. Coordinates the communication between nursing staff, physicians, other departments, professional staff, patients, and families related to patient care.
Our 35‑bed Med/Surgical unit is a dynamic, multi‑disciplinary team that provides high‑quality, compassionate care to complex surgical and medical patients, including general surgery, orthopedics, urology, gynecology, ENT, plastic surgery, and general medicine.
Responsibilities
Facilitate unit operations and perform clerical duties on patient unit.
Greet patients and visitors upon arrival.
Coordinate communication between nursing staff, physicians, other departments, professional staff, patients, and families regarding patient care.
Qualifications
High school diploma or equivalent.
Previous experience in a health care setting.
Keyboard skills.
Exceptional customer service skills.
Acquire and maintain skills necessary for role.
Principles of effective communication.
Knowledge of data entry systems.
Ability to perform effectively in a fast‑paced, dynamic environment.
Effective organizational skills.
Preferred Qualifications
Knowledge of medical terminology.
Available during the first week of employment for HUC orientations (Monday‑Friday 8AM‑4:30PM).
