Position Summary The Controller will provide strategic financial leadership and operational accounting oversight across multiple facilities within an assigned region. This role carries a broad scope of responsibility including general accounting, financial reporting, journal entry preparation, account reconciliation, franchise fee reporting, budgeting, variance analysis, and profitability review.

Serving as a key financial partner to regional leadership and Corporate Finance, the Controller will evaluate operating trends, ensure accurate and timely reporting, support financial decision-making, and uphold strong internal control standards. This individual will play a key role in budgeting, forecasting, asset management, process improvement, collections strategy, and pro forma development.

Key Responsibilities Financial Leadership & Strategy

Partner with regional business leaders and corporate finance leadership to guide financial strategy and performance.

Provide timely, insightful financial analysis to support decision-making and improve profitability.

Monitor performance vs. budget and forecast, recommending corrective actions as needed.

Participate in merger/acquisition due diligence, modeling, and post-integration activities.

Accounting Operations & Reporting

Lead the monthly accounting close and preparation of financial statements.

Oversee account reconciliations, revenue recognition, allocations, and general ledger integrity.

Ensure compliance with GAAP, internal controls, and corporate accounting policies.

Prepare, consolidate, and analyze financial data for monthly, quarterly, and annual reporting.

Support external audit processes and implement recommended control enhancements.

Budgeting, Forecasting & Planning

Coordinate the development and maintenance of annual operating and capital budgets.

Conduct trend, variance, and ROI analysis to support business planning.

Support regional pricing, margin analysis, and RFP responses through financial modeling.

Provide financial reporting packages and dashboards to management.

Operational Finance

Oversee transaction processing including A/R, A/P, payroll, and cash management.

Monitor collections, bad debt exposure, and working capital performance.

Manage asset tracking and fixed asset controls.

Develop and evaluate cost-reduction and margin-enhancement initiatives.

Systems & Data Management

Utilize accounting and financial tools (e.g., Solomon, Dossier, or similar systems).

Promote automation and process improvement.

Ensure timely and accurate data integrity across systems.

Select, develop, and coach accounting team members to support regional finance operations.

Promote a culture of accuracy, accountability, and continuous improvement.

Qualifications Required Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (Masters Preferred).

3-5 years progressive accounting/finance experience.

Experience supporting multi-site or regional business operations.

Strong understanding of GAAP and internal controls.

Advanced analytical, budgeting, and reporting skills.

High proficiency with accounting systems and Excel.

Demonstrated ability to partner with operational leadership.

Preferred Qualifications

CPA or MBA.

Experience in waste services, logistics, transportation, field-services, or related industries.

Experience with financial automation tools.

Business acumen and strategic thinking.

Detail-oriented and highly organized.

Strong communication and executive-level presentation skills.

Problem-solving and analytical capability.

Leadership and team development.

Ability to manage competing priorities across locations.

Travel may be required between regional facilities.
