The Mortgage Servicing Credit Reporting Specialist is responsible for ensuring the accurate and timely reporting of mortgage loan data to credit bureaus in compliance with the Fair Credit Reporting Act (FCRA), Metro 2® format, investor guidelines, and company policies. This role plays a key part in maintaining data integrity and resolving credit disputes to protect the organization from regulatory risk and support borrower credit accuracy.
What You Will Be Doing
Prepare and submit monthly credit bureau files using Metro 2® format for all active mortgage loans.
Ensure all data reported to credit bureaus is accurate and in compliance with FCRA and company standards.
Research and resolve borrower credit reporting disputes received from credit bureaus (e‑Oscar), internal teams, or directly from borrowers.
Coordinate with internal departments (e.g., default servicing, payment processing, loss mitigation) to validate loan data.
Maintain detailed records of credit reporting activities and dispute resolutions.
Monitor exception reports and perform audits to identify and correct reporting errors proactively.
Respond to credit bureau inquiries and follow through on updates or corrections within regulatory timeframes.
Assist with internal and external audits related to credit reporting.
Support implementation of credit reporting system updates or process improvements.
Stay current with regulatory changes and credit reporting best practices.
What We Need From You Must-Have Qualifications
High school diploma or equivalent required; Associate or Bachelor’s degree preferred.
2+ years of experience in mortgage servicing, credit reporting, or related financial services role.
Familiarity with credit bureau reporting standards (e.g., Metro 2® format) and FCRA regulations.
Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills.
High attention to detail and accuracy.
Proficient with loan servicing systems (e.g., MSP, Black Knight, or similar) and credit reporting tools.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet strict deadlines.
Strong organizational and documentation skills.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook).
Nice To Have Qualifications
Experience working with the e‑Oscar platform for credit dispute resolution.
Knowledge of investor (Fannie Mae, Freddie Mac, FHA, VA) reporting guidelines.
Prior experience in regulatory audits or quality control.
