Basic Function:
Kern Community College District accepts applications for part‑time, hourly faculty pools on a continuous basis so qualified applicants can be contacted immediately. The starting salary range is $66.00–$67.00 per hour. Applications remain active for up to two years.
Representative Duties:
This pool will be used to staff part‑time adjunct positions.
Minimum Qualifications:
Master’s in library science, library and information science or equivalent.
Applicants who believe they possess equivalent qualifications must submit an APPLICATION FOR EQUIVALENCY form with supporting documents.
Requirements for Faculty and Administration in California Community Colleges:
Demonstrated sensitivity to diverse student backgrounds, accredited degrees, and screening by committee; meeting minimum qualifications does not guarantee an interview.
Knowledge & Abilities:
Work effectively with colleagues in an innovative, student‑centered environment.
Work with students of diverse skills, motivations, and goals.
Develop curriculum, including various modalities.
Participate in recruitment and articulation activities with local schools and higher education institutions.
Communicate effectively orally and in writing.
Maintain subject matter currency.
Assess student learning outcomes.
Use computers and explore new technologies for the program.
Commit to the California community college mission.
