Environmental Health Safety Specialist – CDMO / Pharmaceutical Manufacturing South Bend, Indiana | Full-Time | On-Site | Reporting to Director of Operations Protect people. Strengthen systems. Hubot, Inc., a rapidly growing CDMO serving global pharmaceutical and personal-care brands, is seeking a Health & Safety Officer to lead and elevate the site’s safety culture, regulatory compliance, and risk mitigation across our manufacturing operations. This role will serve as the primary site authority on health and safety - ensuring every process, person, and piece of equipment meets the standards required to support world-class operations. Safety Leadership & Compliance: Serve as the primary authority for OSHA, EPA, state, and local regulatory compliance Own and maintain Hubot’s Health & Safety Management System Lead risk assessments, hazard analyses, ergonomics assessments, and safety reviews Lead investigations for all incidents/near misses Develop CAPA, corrective actions, and preventive controls Track closure and effectiveness of safety actions Training & Culture Development: Deliver H&S training, onboarding, toolbox talks, and emergency response drills Drive adoption of safe work practices across production, engineering, and support teams Lead the site safety committee and promote continuous improvement culture Facility & Environmental Oversight: Manage SDS library, chemical inventories, waste handling, and hazardous material storage Conduct routine inspections for equipment safety, PPE, fire prevention, emergency equipment, and ventilation Support air permitting, emissions records, and environmental compliance activities Audit Readiness: Prepare for customer audits and regulatory inspections Maintain inspection-ready documentation and safety records Who You Are (Health & Safety Professional)
3–5+ years of H&S or EHS experience in pharmaceutical, chemical, CDMO, food, or regulated manufacturing Strong working knowledge of OSHA standards, industrial hygiene, hazard communication, and risk reduction methods Experience leading incident investigations and implementing CAPA Comfortable training operators, technicians, engineers, and cross-functional teams Excellent communicator with hands-on problem solving skills Organized, detail-driven, and able to enforce safety practices with diplomacy and authority 100% training completion and documentation accuracy On-time closure of CAPA and H&S action items Successful customer and regulatory audit outcomes Continuous improvement in safety culture and participation metrics Competitive compensation, health insurance, 401(k), paid time off, disability coverage, and ongoing leadership and safety training.
