Position Overview The Resident Assistant plays a vital role in providing direct, compassionate care to our residents. This position is responsible for assisting with personal care, monitoring resident well‑being, and supporting residents in maintaining their independence and dignity. The Resident Assistant works closely with the care team to ensure a safe, respectful, and engaging environment for all residents.
Key Responsibilities
Assist residents with bathing, dressing, grooming, and toileting.
Follow the designated shower schedule and support residents during personal care routines.
Help distribute meal trays during scheduled meal times.
Regularly check and record vital signs, physical condition, and cognitive status.
Ensure that residents’ rights and responsibilities are observed.
Respond promptly to resident call lights and requests for assistance.
Act swiftly and appropriately in emergency situations such as medical emergencies or fire alarms.
Complete daily charting and document care provided.
Adhere to mandatory 4‑hour reporting for all Medicaid Waiver residents.
Report observations and care‑related issues to the appropriate team members.
Maintain cleanliness and safety in common areas including hallways, lounges, and dining spaces.
Ensure resident rooms are tidy by making beds, changing linens, and cleaning bathrooms regularly.
Manage laundry duties, including collecting, washing, folding, and distributing clean linens and clothing.
Provide emotional support and companionship to residents.
Collaborate effectively with colleagues to foster a positive, supportive work environment.
Participate in ongoing training and attend all mandatory staff meetings.
Follow all company policies, procedures, and safety regulations, including proper infection control practices.
Maintain resident privacy and confidentiality at all times.
Perform other job‑related duties as assigned by the Resident Care Coordinator.
Qualifications
High school diploma or GED required.
Experience in assisted living or long‑term care is preferred but not required.
Excellent attention to detail and ability to follow established care protocols.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed.
Must pass a background check.
Physical Demands
Regularly required to stand, walk, use hands for manual tasks, reach, and communicate verbally.
Occasionally required to sit, climb, balance, or perform activities that involve stooping, kneeling, or crouching.
Frequently required to lift and/or move up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift up to 50 pounds.
Schedule Requirements
This is a part‑time position requiring 24 hours per week, with scheduled hours from 7:00 AM to 3:00 PM.
Rotating weekends are required as part of the standard schedule.
Holidays will also be scheduled on a rotating basis.
All staff are expected to maintain flexibility in scheduling to ensure coverage and continuity of care across all days of the week, including weekends and holidays.
