Job Summary
The Health Safety and Environment (HSE) Manager is responsible for assisting with the development, implementation and auditing of the HSE management system, plans and specific programs including ensuring compliance with a) all local, state, federal and company HSE laws, codes, and standards.
The role also oversees compliance with Hutchinson and Total guidelines and all local, state and federal environmental requirements.
Additionally, the HSE Manager will also be responsible for day‑to‑day HSE support, advice, training, inspections/audits, reporting functions and systems maintenance.
Tasks relating to the role will be undertaken through active involvement with management and the workforce to ensure the highest levels of communication, support and advice are provided.
Duties
Ensure full compliance with all local, state, federal, and company HSE laws, codes, and standards.
Prepare and submit all required HSE applications, documentation, and reports to regulatory and corporate groups.
Develop and manage site‑specific HSE targets and goals in collaboration with the plant manager.
Serve as the management representative for HSE certification programs, such as ISO14001, as required.
Assist in developing and implementing site‑specific emergency response systems.
Support corporate crisis and business continuity plans.
Work with Human Resources to assist with all site incident, accident and near‑miss investigations, including reporting to the alert system and sharing lessons learned (RETEX).
Develop, coordinate and present HSE training programs for all employees and management.
Maintain and provide training on key safety topics such as HazCom, Lock‑Out/Tag‑Out, Arc Flash, Fire Evacuation and Spill Control.
Actively participate in both formal and informal site communication to increase HSE awareness and understanding among the workforce.
Oversee and implement various HSE programs, including loss prevention, risk management, industrial hygiene, energy conservation and site security.
Provide technical direction for developing HSE procedures and work instructions for both company personnel and contractors.
Offer resources and information to employees and management as needed to support HSE initiatives.
Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Engineering, Safety Engineering, Occupational Health & Safety or a related field is preferred.
Proven experience in an EHS role within a manufacturing setting.
Prior experience in molded and extruded rubber products in the automotive industry is highly preferred.
Strong knowledge of OSHA regulations, EPA guidelines, workers’ compensation law and occupational health standards.
Excellent report writing skills with the ability to communicate complex information clearly.
Experience in training & development related to health and safety practices is essential.
Strong analytical skills with the ability to perform root cause analysis effectively.
Exceptional interpersonal skills with the ability to work collaboratively across departments.

Pay: $80,000.00 - $95,000.00 per year
