SUMMARY Staff position with primary concern for process design and improvement in a FAA Repair Station environment. The engineer will use knowledge and experience to develop a robust quality system to meet turnaround time requirements while achieving world‑class quality levels.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Process and method improvements—through common methods such as tooling, instructions, and equipment—provide method improvement to the production floor.

Provide mechanical and technical support when troubleshooting problems affecting production and quality.

Maintenance and distribution of labor standards.

Development of labor standards for existing products on new bill of material requests.

Facility and workstation layout.

Research and development of capital projects.

Provide and maintain work instructions when needed.

Preparation of product estimates for manufacturing operations, including estimates of special tools, fixtures, and equipment needed for the new product.

Troubleshoot all problems affecting their production area, providing corrective action to pickups and addressing problem areas on a priority basis.

Research and development of new equipment and processes to aid the manufacturing process.

Analyze and provide solutions for negative margin orders.

Implementation of new products from engineering to production. Responsible for the development of all tooling, instructions, and processes to successfully repair product.

Other duties as assigned.

Maintain calibration program, document control system, and help with test bench and tooling improvements.

Candidate Skills & Requirements QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS Contributions to quality: providing tooling, work instructions, and capital equipment; participation in ISO 9001/AS 9110 implementation, Process Action Teams, and customer audits.

Language skills: ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations; ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals; ability to present information and respond to questions.

Mathematical skills: probability and statistical inference, Six Sigma problem solving, Gage R&R, ANOVA, Design of Experiments, Control Charts, and Process Capability.

Education and experience: Bachelor’s engineering degree from a four‑year college or university; Certified Six Sigma Green Belt a plus.

Reasoning ability: define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions; interpret technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form.

Essential requirements: work predominantly seated; standing, walking, talking, and hearing required; exposure to moving parts, fumes, airborne particles, and loud noise; regular attendance essential.

Licenses, certificates, and registrations: certification through American Society for Quality (Quality Engineer, Green/Black Belt) preferred but not required.

Communication skills: generate written communication, strong oral communication, and presentation skills.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS and OTHER SKILLS Requires long periods of standing, walking, bending, kneeling, stooping, crouching, crawling, and climbing. Must frequently lift and/or move items over 50 pounds. Vision: close, distance, color, peripheral, depth perception, and focus adjustment.

Computer skills: spreadsheets, word processing, flowcharting, CAD, Minitab, and databases.

Annual Salary $83,000 – $93,000 annually
