Overview

Amazon Data Services, Inc. is seeking a Data Center Technician to support the continuous operation of AWS’s global cloud infrastructure. The role focuses on hardware and network diagnostics, troubleshooting, and physical repairs in data center facilities, while participating in on‑call rotations and shift work. Key Responsibilities

Perform server rack installations, hardware break‑fix on various components, and troubleshooting of network issues. Respond to operational incidents that impact service availability, carrying out routine network, server hardware, and operating system repairs. Serve as the primary contact for internal and external stakeholders, including engineers, software developers, vendors, and contractors. Perform on‑call duties and participate in scheduled maintenance and change management activities. Contribute to documentation and process improvement initiatives based on analysis of operational issues. Help interview, train, and onboard new team members. Physical Requirements

Lift and move material up to 40 pounds each. Work in cramped and/or elevated locations. Maneuver, bend, lift, stretch, and reach as required. Stand and walk for up to 8+ hours a day. Ascend and descend ladders, stairs, and gangways safely and without limitation. Travel and Shift Requirements

Travel to or commute between data center locations as needed; travel >50 miles or

Work shifts longer than 8 hours, including nights, weekends, and holidays, to support 24/7 operations. A Day in the Life

Take ownership of technical issues and engage other teams to drive resolution. Show a strong aptitude for troubleshooting and problem solving. Understand the broader context and solve problems at their root. Maintain service level agreements through proactive issue detection and reporting. Act in the absence of direction or support and drive process innovation. About the Team

The team is diverse, including software, hardware, and network engineers, supply chain specialists, security experts, and operations managers. Flexibility to work schedules including weekends, nights, and holidays. 18+ months of computer/server hardware troubleshooting or related IT experience. 18+ months of computer layer 1/2 networking experience (including troubleshooting and repair). Preferred Qualifications

Experience in a data center or other critical environment. Bachelor’s degree or equivalent professional or military experience in an IT‑related field. Industry‑standard certifications (CompTIA, CCENT, Network+). Understanding of Linux or similar operating systems. Behavioral interviewing and hiring experience. Experience training and onboarding new team members. Compensation

Lump sum stipend will be provided to eligible candidates who relocate for this position. Base pay ranges from $55,900 to $125,100 per year depending on geographic market, with equity, sign‑on payments, and other benefits as part of a full compensation package. EEO Statement
