Position
Utilities Technician role in the Utilities and Infrastructure Department—Distribution Division. Performs preventative maintenance and repairs on Town water and sewer lines to prevent sewage backup and subsequent water contamination. Duties include maintenance and repair of water and sewer lines; pipe and leak repairs; installation of water meters, taps, and splits; performing outfall and manhole inspections; meter and residential pressure checks; maintaining equipment; and assisting other divisions of U&I as needed.
Responsibilities
Perform preventative maintenance and repairs on Town water and sewer lines to prevent sewage backup and subsequent water contamination.
Maintenance and repair of water and sewer lines.
Pipe and leak repairs.
Installation of water meters, taps, and splits.
Perform outfall and manhole inspections.
Meter and residential pressure checks.
Maintain equipment and assist other divisions of U&I as needed.
Qualifications
High school diploma.
Valid NC CDL (or ability to obtain within 6 months).
Preferably 1–2 years of experience in the maintenance of water/sewer lines or other infrastructure.
Salary Hiring range: $39,790 - $44,720 depending on relevant work experience.
