Office Specialist I

Located in Hurricane, Utah, overlooking Quail Creek Reservoir, this position is part of the Utah Department of Natural Resources’ Washington County Field Office.
In this role you will manage the front counter, assist customers with selling hunting and fishing licenses, and answer questions regarding wildlife and permits. The schedule is flexible with opportunities for growth, and the position includes a variety of duties and projects tailored to the interests, abilities, and skills of the successful candidate.
Responsibilities
Greet customers, process hunt applications, handle phone calls, and manage over‑the‑counter sales of hunting and fishing permits.
Stay knowledgeable of all fishing and hunting rules, regulations, and hunt dates.
Perform data entry, generate sales reports, and reconcile cash register totals.
Required/Minimum Qualifications
Enthusiastic, dependable, and possess excellent customer service skills.
Interest in hunting, fishing, wildlife, and natural resources.
Strong oral and written communication skills.
Ability to work independently.
Basic knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
Preferred/Additional Qualifications
Basic accounting functions such as receiving and recording cash payments.
Basic bookkeeping and accounts payable/receivable experience.
Responsibility for maintaining calendars, schedules, and coordinating appointments, meetings, training, and facilities.
Experience ordering, receiving, inspecting, and storing equipment, merchandise, and supplies.
Working Conditions
Typical office setting: adequately lighted, heated, and ventilated; risks include safe use of office equipment, avoidance of trips and falls, and observation of fire regulations.
Employee may sit comfortably during most tasks; may require walking, standing, bending, carrying light items, and occasional automobile use.
Benefits and leave are not included in this part‑time position.
Work Schedule The Washington County Field Office is open Monday – Friday from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm. The position averages 3 days per week for 20–30 hours. Occasionally 40 hours may be required to cover peak time, vacation, or sick leave.
