The Unemployment Insurance (UI) Division at the Department of Workforce Services (DWS) is looking for several highly skilled and motivated individuals to fill UI Initial Adjudicator positions throughout the Wasatch Front. This is a fast‑paced position where work priorities change throughout the day as new information is received from customers.
In‑office training will be required in the Salt Lake City office for the first year of employment. After a year of employment, a hybrid schedule may be an option.
Principal Duties
Rendering legal determinations regarding non‑monetary eligibility for UI benefits as prescribed by the Utah Employment Security Act.
Conducting extensive fact‑finding interviews over the phone with claimants, employers and other interested parties.
Analyzing information gathered and preparing administrative determinations of eligibility.
Serving as a technical expert pertaining to the law.
Receiving, researching and responding to incoming questions or complaints.
Providing information, explaining policy and procedures, and/or facilitating a resolution.
Meeting high quality and timeliness standards each month.
The Ideal Candidate
Can interpret and apply policy.
Has great customer service skills.
Has the ability to utilize interviewing techniques to find, gather and collect information or data.
Can communicate information clearly and concisely verbally and in writing.
Preference
Current or previous employment with the Department of Workforce Services.
