INCOME MAINTENANCE CASEWORKER II
Salary Range:
$44,013 - $69,566
Primary Purpose of Position This position is responsible for interviewing clients to obtain required information, completing initial applications, verifying information, determining eligibility, and completing scheduled program reviews. The caseworker must explain program requirements and options and advise or refer clients to other program services as appropriate.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Considerable knowledge of the program and assignment areas.
General knowledge of all agency and community programs and services that could affect the client/applicant.
Good mathematical reasoning and computational skills.
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret rules, regulations, and procedures.
Ability to communicate with clients/applicants, the public, and officials to obtain data and explain rules.
Ability to instruct and evaluate the work of lower‑level employees.
Ability to perform caseworker functions within structured time frames.
Minimum Education and Experience
One year of experience as an Income Maintenance Caseworker or equivalent combination of training and experience.
Graduation from an accredited associate degree program in Human Services Technology, Social Services Associate, Paralegal Technology, Business Administration, Secretarial Science, or a closely related curriculum; or graduation from high school and two years of paraprofessional, clerical, or other public contact experience including negotiation, interviewing, explaining information, gathering and compiling data, analysis of data, and/or performance of mathematical or legal tasks with at least one year in an income maintenance program; or graduation from high school and three years of paraprofessional, clerical or other public contact experience including same requirements.
Career Readiness Certificate (CRC) and NC FAST Certificate preferred.
Valid North Carolina driver’s license required.
Bilinguals encouraged to apply.
