Title - Senior Production Manager


Location: La Vergne, TN


Salary Range: $100k - $130k/annually (+Bonus)



Position Overview


The Senior Production Manager is a senior operations leader with full ownership of powder blending and packaging manufacturing operations within a regulated production environment. This role is responsible for driving operational excellence, building scalable systems, and leading multi-shift production teams to support current output and future growth.


The position oversees production associates, technicians, and frontline leaders, with accountability for safety, quality, cost, delivery, inventory accuracy, and continuous improvement. This role also partners closely with senior leadership on capacity planning, long-term manufacturing strategy, and scale-up initiatives.



Key Responsibilities



Strategic Production Leadership



  • Own short-, mid-, and long-term production strategy for powder blending and packaging operations.

  • Translate demand forecasts into capacity plans, labor strategies, and equipment requirements.

  • Anticipate operational constraints and proactively implement solutions to support growth and new product introductions.

  • Make data-driven production decisions balancing service levels, cost, and quality.



Operational Execution & KPI Ownership



  • Ensure consistent achievement of production KPIs including OEE, yield, labor efficiency, scrap, and schedule adherence.

  • Lead daily, weekly, and monthly performance reviews and drive accountability through standardized reporting.

  • Ensure consistent execution and discipline across all shifts.

  • Partner with Maintenance and Engineering to maximize equipment uptime and throughput.

  • Lead, mentor, and develop production supervisors, leads, technicians, and operators.

  • Build frontline leadership capability through coaching, feedback, and structured development plans.

  • Own succession planning for key production leadership roles.

  • Foster a culture of ownership, accountability, and continuous improvement.



Continuous Improvement & Manufacturing Excellence



  • Champion Lean manufacturing principles, Kaizen, 5S, and root cause problem-solving.

  • Identify and prioritize improvement initiatives with measurable impact on cost, efficiency, and capacity.

  • Lead cross-functional improvement projects involving Production, Quality, Maintenance, and Supply Chain.

  • Standardize best practices to support repeatability and scalable operations.



SOP Governance & Process Standardization



  • Own governance of SOPs for blending, packaging, material handling, and production support processes.

  • Ensure SOPs are audit-ready, scalable, and consistently executed across shifts.

  • Lead change management for process improvements, equipment upgrades, and new product launches.

  • Partner with Quality on document control, training, and effectiveness monitoring.



Quality, GMP & Regulatory Leadership



  • Ensure full compliance with GMP and internal quality standards.

  • Act as a senior operations representative during audits and inspections.

  • Review and ensure effective closure of CAPAs related to production.

  • Promote a strong quality culture through leadership visibility and accountability.



Inventory, Materials & Systems Ownership



  • Own inventory accuracy and material flow within production areas.

  • Ensure disciplined execution within ERP/MRP systems for batch control, traceability, and material consumption.

  • Partner with Supply Chain and Quality to resolve inventory discrepancies and prevent recurrence.

  • Drive improvements in staging, kitting, and material readiness.



Safety & Environmental Leadership



  • Champion a safety-first culture across all manufacturing operations.

  • Ensure compliance with OSHA, PPE, and site safety standards.

  • Lead incident investigations and corrective action implementation.

  • Ensure teams are trained and compliant with safety requirements.



Cross-Functional & Executive Collaboration



  • Serve as a key manufacturing partner to Quality, Maintenance, Supply Chain, Engineering, and HR.

  • Provide operational input into capital planning, budgeting, and strategic initiatives.

  • Support senior leadership with data-driven insights and recommendations.

  • Act as a role model for leadership accountability and operational ownership.



Qualifications



Required



  • 10+ years of experience in food, nutraceutical, pharmaceutical, or other regulated manufacturing environments.

  • 5+ years in a production or operations management role with multi-shift leadership responsibility.

  • Deep technical expertise in powder blending, dry material handling, and packaging operations.

  • Proven experience scaling manufacturing operations in growth-oriented environments.

  • Strong background in Lean manufacturing, SOP governance, and KPI-driven management.



Preferred



  • Experience in GMP, SQF, FDA, or ISO-regulated facilities.

  • Advanced experience with ERP/MRP systems.

  • Lean Six Sigma certification or equivalent.

  • Senior manufacturing leadership
