Job Description:
- The Phlebotomist II represents the face of the organization to patients as part of their routine healthcare or diagnostic needs.
- This role is responsible for collecting quality blood samples and preparing specimens for laboratory testing while following established procedures.
- The Phlebotomist II interacts directly with patients, creating an atmosphere of trust and confidence by clearly explaining procedures and performing blood draws in a safe, accurate, and professional manner.
- The role emphasizes process excellence, confidentiality, and accuracy of patient information. Assignments may include a doctor s office, patient service center, or other locations based on business needs.
- Ability to provide quality, error-free work in a fast-paced environment.
- Ability to work independently with minimal on-site supervision.
- Excellent phlebotomy skills, including pediatric and geriatric collections.
- Flexibility to work weekends, holidays, on-call shifts, and overtime as needed.
- Commitment to policies and procedures related to safety, confidentiality, and professional conduct.
- Strong decision-making skills using established procedures and good judgment.
- Reliable transportation and valid driver s license, if applicable.
- Ability to travel and work flexible hours across multiple locations with minimal notice.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a high-volume environment.
- Strong customer focus with clear and professional communication skills.
- Minimum of three years of phlebotomy experience, including pediatric, geriatric, and capillary collections.
- Experience in a patient service center environment preferred.
- Customer service experience in a retail or service environment preferred.
- Keyboarding and data entry experience.
- Perform daily activities accurately and on time under the direction of a supervisor.
- Maintain a safe, professional, and compliant work environment.
- Collect and process clinical and forensic specimens following established procedures.
- Verify patient identification and specimen labeling in the patient s presence.
- Maintain accurate records and required documentation.
- Promote a positive image with patients, clients, coworkers, and the public.
