About the Role
The Purchasing Buyer reports directly to the Purchasing Department Leader for Ocean Casino Resort and is responsible for purchasing for assigned areas while upholding all Ocean Casino Resort purchasing protocols and standards.
Position Responsibilities
Reviews requisitions: confers with vendors to obtain product or service information such as price, availability and delivery schedule.
Maintains current knowledge of Food and Beverage/ General Items purchasing policies and procedures, quotations, negotiations, contracts, rebates and vendor confidentiality.
Evaluates and selects Food and Beverage/ General Items suppliers based upon price, quality, availability, reliability, and selection of products.
Solicits quotations, reviews bid proposals and negotiates contracts within budgetary limitations and scope of authority.
Collaborates with internal customers including chefs, restaurant managers and department heads to obtain specifications for items and evaluate satisfaction with vendor products and services.
Develops an intimate knowledge of company’s procurement management agreements and ensures products are sourced from appropriate suppliers.
Maintains procurement records such as goods, items or services purchased, costs, delivery, product quality and inventories.
Expedites delivery of goods, items, and services.
Essential Job Functions · Exposure to casino related environmental factors including but not limited to secondhand smoke, excessive noise, and stress related to servicing customers in a high pressure and fast paced environment
· Must be able to stand and walk for an entire shift and be able to move throughout the Casino/Hotel areas
· Must be able to work holidays and weekends, as well as flexible shifts and/or unusual hours
· Travel to/from work and on-site attendance to perform the essential functions of the job
What’s Required
3 years+ of purchasing experience, gained through education and/or experience
Strong critical thinking, analytical, negotiation, and business skills
Demonstrated expertise in contract reviews, sourcing, and determining pricing
Excellent organizational, communication, decision-making, and problem-solving skills
Ability to effectively communicate in English
Prior experience in a purchasing department for a high-volume Hotel/Casino property preferred
Proficiency with Word and Excel required
Stratton Warren software experience required
Travel to/from work and on-site attendance to perform the essential functions of the job
Our cash compensation amount for this role is $46,500 to $60,500 annually. Final offer amounts are determined by multiple factors including experience and expertise and may vary from the amount listed above
