We are seeking a sharp, motivated Project Accountant to serve as the right hand to our Assistant Corporate Controller. This role is ideal for someone who thrives in a hands‑on, analytical environment and is excited to contribute to the financial success of projects that matter. You’ll play a key role in project-level financial reporting, budget tracking, compliance, and ensuring accurate cost accounting for both commercial and government projects. Key Responsibilities
Support the month-end close process with a focus on project-level financials Monitor and analyze project budgets, job cost reports, and performance metrics Review and track subcontractor invoices, change orders, and client billing Collaborate with project managers and operations staff to ensure accurate financial tracking Prepare reports and documentation required for government contracts, including compliance with FAR and other regulations Assist with audit preparation, internal controls, and process improvement initiatives Provide financial insight to help guide project decisions and business strategy Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field 3+ years of accounting experience, preferably in construction or government contracting Strong knowledge of project accounting principles and job costing Familiarity with FAR, DFARS, and other government contracting compliance requirements Detail-oriented with strong analytical and problem-solving skills Excellent Excel skills and experience with construction/accounting software (e.g., Sage, Deltek, Procore, or similar) Ability to work in-office in downtown DC and collaborate effectively in a team-oriented environment
