Aircraft Structural Mechanic – Adams Communication & Engineering Technology (ACET, Inc.) Location: MCAS Camp Pendleton, CA

Salary: $35.00/hr – $41.00/hr + $1,000 sign‑on bonus

Key Responsibilities

Perform depot‑level modifications and new structural integrations on the airframe.

Collaborate with engineers and technical teams to address and resolve complex structural issues, including documenting inconsistencies, non‑conformance, and suggested install corrective actions.

Document all maintenance actions in accordance with applicable regulations and standards.

Maintain compliance with quality assurance and safety standards, including adherence to Naval Aviation Maintenance Program (NAMP) COMNAVAIRFORINST 4790 and local SOP and GOPS compliance guidelines.

Support aircraft inspections, acceptance procedures, and required modifications.

Ensure all tools, test equipment, and consumables are calibrated and maintained per established policies.

Qualifications

Proficient in reading, interpreting, and utilizing technical manuals (TD / IDP), blueprints, diagrams and engineering drawings.

Perform close‑tolerance drilling, reaming, removal, and installation in critical support structures and fracture‑critical areas.

Locate blind holes for installing new structural items to existing structure.

Perform split‑sleeve cold working.

Execute sealing, painting, shimming and preserving structure tasks.

Strong knowledge of aircraft and structural principles specific to airframe modifications and upgrades.

Strong organizational and problem‑solving skills.

Advanced knowledge of aircraft sheet metal/structural modification and repair.

Knowledge of aircraft‑specific tooling such as test equipment, torque wrenches, dial indicators, micrometers, sheet metal brakes, shears, etc., and ability to operate hand and power tools safely and effectively.

Competence in using precision measuring tools such as scales, micrometers, and calipers for accurate measurement assessments.

Install structural aircraft upgrades and modifications as needed.

Self‑starter who can work independently in a team environment.

Required

Minimum 5 years of aviation structure maintenance experience.

Proficiency in depot‑level maintenance procedures and processes.

Knowledge of FAA, military, and industry standards.

Familiarity with aircraft structures and airframes.

Strong verbal and written communication skills for technical documentation and team collaboration.

Preferred

Experience on the UH‑1Y and/or AH‑1Z platform aircraft.

FAA Airframe and Powerplant (A&P) license or equivalent military certification.

Prior service in a military or government aviation maintenance environment.

Aircraft Avionics/Electrical certifications.

Past Quality Assurance or QAR experience.

Physical Requirements

Must be able to lift, push, pull and manipulate 50 lbs independently when needed.

Must be able to climb on ladders when required.

Must be able to repeatedly enter and exit aircraft using stationary steps/stairs.

Position involves long periods of standing, bending, kneeling, squatting, crawling on aircraft structure and around aircraft during maintenance functions.

Position may require working in a confined workspace.

Position may require use/exposure to fuels, oils, hydraulic fluids and cleaning solvents.

Position is located in a high‑noise area within an aircraft hangar/flightline environment.

FIT for Duty physical is required; DOT and Respiratory physicals may be required.

Additional Information

Tools: Must own and provide basic hand tools.

Relocation assistance is not provided; candidates must relocate at their own expense.

All candidates must be U.S. Citizens.

Must remain employed for a minimum of 12 months to retain the bonus.
