A Day in the Life of the Paralegal
In this role, you’ll support a high‑impact litigation practice dedicated to advocating for elder abuse and wrongful death victims. You’ll be a key partner to the attorneys, managing cases, overseeing discovery, preparing for depositions and trial, and ensuring clients feel supported every step of the way. Your work helps drive justice, accountability, and closure for vulnerable seniors and their families.
Responsibilities
Managing civil litigation cases from pre‑litigation through post‑trial activities
Organizing, reviewing, and analyzing case files, discovery materials, and document productions
Drafting and responding to discovery; preparing meet‑and‑confer letters
Conducting legal research; preparing case law summaries, statute summaries, and medical record reviews
Creating witness lists and supporting documentation
Coordinating and preparing exhibits, trial binders, and logistics for depositions and trial
Overseeing e‑discovery processes and document production
Interviewing and meeting with witnesses
Maintaining consistent communication with clients to provide updates and gather information
Training and mentoring junior paralegals and administrative staff
Requirements and Qualifications
5+ years of litigation paralegal experience in California
Strong knowledge of federal and California state court rules and filing procedures
Expertise in drafting and responding to discovery and legal documents
Strong experience supporting trial preparation and logistics
Hands‑on experience preparing or supporting motions to compel
Highly organized, detail‑oriented, and able to focus on evidence collection, tagging, and categorizing
Ability to work independently with a proactive, solutions‑focused mindset
