About Fisher Island Club Accessible only by ferryboat or private yacht, Fisher Island Club is a boutique property with 15 historic and reimagined cottages, villas, and guesthouse suites. The club offers a secluded beach, a 15‑room all‑suite hotel, an award‑winning golf course, tennis, pickleball, marinas, dining venues, a spa, salon, fitness center, theater, aviary, and observatory.

Job Summary The Director of Spa & Wellness supervises spa operations including guest relations, quality control, budgeting, treatment, fitness, and wellness programs, and marketing to members, media, and prospective clients. The overall quality and satisfaction of all spa services for members and guests depend on the Director.

Primary Responsibilities

Develop and implement treatments, fitness, and wellness programs.

Develop and administer Destination Spa Package Programs.

Purchase supplies and equipment.

Select and train supervisory employees.

Create annual operating and capital budgets; control expenditures and achieve revenues.

Maintain spa facilities and equipment.

Supervise, staff, and train employees, including Assistant Spa Director, Salon Manager, Fitness Manager, Personal Services Manager, Men’s/Ladies Spa and Housekeeping Supervisor, Administrative Assistant, Boutique Assistant, Boutique Buyer, and Children’s Program Manager.

Develop training and procedural manuals; conduct orientation and staff development.

Develop and implement marketing and promotional programs for spa services; support public relations and marketing to groups.

Conduct exercise classes and professional training as needed.

Comply with Fisher Island Club standards (grooming, conduct policies and procedures).

Job Requirements

A college degree in hospitality, spa management, wellness, or a related field and a minimum of five years of management experience at a luxury resort, plus five years in the hospitality industry of a similar resort.

Minimum one approved industry certification.

At least two years as a service provider in a related field.

CPR certification.

Active membership in the Club Spa and Fitness Association and annual convention participation.

Active membership in the International Spa Association and annual convention participation.

Additional industry certifications: ISPA, AHLA, ACSM, NASM, NSCA, IAR.

Represent a fit and healthy lifestyle, enjoy interpersonal contact with guests, and work a variety of shifts—including holidays; communicate friendly to members in person and by phone.

Education / Skills / Work Experience

Knowledge of body and skincare treatment modalities, public relations, exercise science, management, and communication.

Four‑year college degree in Business Management or Health Services; post‑graduate studies in exercise management or hospitality management preferred.

Prior spa management experience, preferably as a director.

Working Conditions
