Camp Evergreen Performing Arts Director - Seasonal

Description $4,620 for the season. Training: $16.00 per hour. Schedule: Monday – Friday (8 weeks).

General Functions Under the direction of the Senior Program Director, the Program Director works with the Camp Director and staff to develop and prepare activities and events for Camp Evergreen that meet the objectives of the East Area Family YMCA and are appropriate for children ages 3 to 14.
Responsibilities
Assist the Camp Director with program planning, staff training procedures, and development of new programs.
Assist the Camp Director with interviewing, hiring, and managing Program Area staff.
Assist with Camp Evergreen Meet and Greet and pre-camp promotional events.
Assist with staff orientation, meetings, and leadership meetings.
Supervise and meet with CITs each week and lead a structured program that builds leadership skills and confidence.
Provide leadership and supervision of Program Area staff, setting clear expectations, recognizing achievements, and redirecting as needed; support problem–solving and decision making.
Serve as lead during dismissal with oversight of parent pick‑up and PM care.
Meet with all camp staff at least once a week and assist the Camp Director in leading these meetings.
Attend weekly team meetings to plan, address issues, and solve problems.
Assist with parent complaints and oversee customer service as needed.
Be available to work within the Camp Iroquois hours as outlined by the Camp Director.
Supervise planning of special activities/events with unit directors and other staff.
Maintain basic supply inventory and notify the Camp Director of any needs.
Help Assistant Camp Director organize lost and found.
Prepare a newsletter for each session, highlighting activities and other pertinent information; distribute by the afternoon of the first day of every session.
Act as a substitute counselor or area specialist when necessary.
Supervise overnight operations, special days, large camp events, and off‑season programming with Camp Director support.
Plan and supervise daily camp welcome (council ring).
Be available for AM or PM care supervision as scheduled.
Be present after camp hours on the last day of the season for close‑up activities.
Implement all other tasks assigned by the Camp Director.
Experience and Education:
Bachelor’s Degree in a child‑related field or equivalent experience working with children in recreation and/or education.
One year of prior experience in a camp setting.
Requirements
Must be 21 years of age.
Excellent organizational and communication skills, both verbal and written.
Mature, responsible, and sincerely interested in working with people.
Knowledge of YMCA goals, mission, and resources for programming.
Knowledge of age‑appropriate activities and expectations for children 3 to 14.
Trainings & Certifications
CPR/AED and RTE Certifications required (opportunities provided).
Attend and complete YMCA Child Abuse Prevention and related training at Camp Iroquois Orientation.
