Duties & Responsibilities

Serve as athletic trainer for the specified student‑athlete team(s) under the sports medicine director.

Provide practice and competition coverage, including travel responsibilities.

Coordinate and supervise medical care for athletes as assigned.

Initial assessment and treatment of athletic injuries.

Physician referral as appropriate; maintain regular communication with the primary care team physician and specialty team physicians.

Perform casting and splinting procedures.

Manage wound care, including removal of sutures and staples on MD order.

Schedule diagnostic testing appointments and physician appointments.

Use therapeutic modalities and exercise programs.

Maintain confidential medical records in the Presagia system.

Collect and apply Fusionetics data.

Coordinate concussion testing protocol and collaborate for athletic event medical coverage.

Develop and implement structured rehabilitation programs at MD supervision; coordinate physician re‑checks and maintain communication with supervising physicians.

Develop rehabilitation protocols and coordinate with rehabilitation director.

Use therapeutic modalities and exercise; coordinate physician re‑checks, isokinetic testing, and aquatic rehabilitation.

Assist in planning, scheduling, and coordinating pre‑participation physical examinations for student‑athletes.

Participate in post‑physical physician meetings and coordinate required follow‑up testing from physicals.

Provide preventative maintenance rehabilitation programs; perform fitness assessments, physical conditioning, fitting of protective equipment, and fabrication of tape, braces, and special pads.

Cast/mold custom foot orthotics; design flexibility and strength and conditioning programs.

Provide emergency care and first aid; develop emergency plan; coordinate emergency care with ATC, EMS, and MD; manage emergency equipment; provide emergency medicine in‑servicing.

Position Summary

Daily organization of the athletic training room, including physical and administrative work.

Assist with medical documentation, including electronic medical records.

Attend physician, radiology, and specialty appointments as needed.

Assist with treatment and rehabilitation of student‑athletes under ATC supervision.

Provide oversight of team and individual strength and conditioning sessions and sport practices under ATC supervision.

Other duties as assigned; may work outside traditional Monday‑Friday, 9a‑5p.

Minimum Qualifications

Student in an ATC‑approved program with knowledge of athletic training fundamentals.

Physical demands: driving required.

Certification: Athletic Training Student in CAATE‑approved program.
