Duties/Responsibilities: Recognition, Evaluation and Management of Athletic Injuries

Serve as athletic trainer for team(s) specified by director of sports medicine (includes practice and competition coverage as well as travel responsibilities)

Coordinate and supervise medical care for athletes as assigned by director of sports medicine

Initial assessment and treatment of athletic injuries

Physician referral as appropriate (regular communication with primary care team physician; communication with specialty team physicians as appropriate)

Casting and splinting

Wound care, including removal of sutures and staples on MD order

Diagnostic testing appointments

Physician appointments

Use of therapeutic modalities and exercise

Duties/Responsibilities: Organization and Administration

Maintain confidential medical records in Presagia system

Collect and apply Fusionetics data

Coordinate concussion testing protocol

Collaborate for athletic event medical coverage

Duties/Responsibilities: Rehabilitation of Athletic Injuries

Development and implementation of structured rehabilitation programs under MD supervision (coordinate physician re-checks; participate in rehabilitation progress updates weekly; maintain appropriate communication with supervising physicians)

Development of rehabilitation protocols (coordinate rehabilitation director of rehabilitation)

Use of therapeutic modalities and exercise

Coordination of physician re-checks

Isokinetic testing

Aquatic rehabilitation

Duties/Responsibilities: Prevention of Athletic Injuries

Pre-participation physical examinations (assist in planning, scheduling, and coordinating pre-participation physical examinations for student-athletes; participate in post-physical physician meetings; coordinate and schedule required follow-up testing from physicals)

Preventative maintenance rehabilitation programs

Fitness assessments; physical conditioning of athletes

Fitting of protective equipment

Fabrication of tape, braces, and special pads

Casting/molding for custom foot orthotics

Flexibility programs

Strength and conditioning programs

Position Summary

Daily organization of the athletic training room, including physical as well as administrative work

Assist with medical documentation, including electronic medical records

Attend physician/radiology/specialty appointments as needed

Assist with treatment and rehabilitation of student-athletes, under the supervision of an ATC

Provide oversight of team and individual S&C sessions and sport practices, under the supervision of an ATC

Other duties as assigned

May occasionally work hours outside of traditional Monday-Friday, 9a-5p
