Usability/Human Factors Engineer (Annapolis Junction, MD)

Basic Requirements:
Bachelor’s degree in cognitive and/or experimental psychology, human factors engineering, or an engineering related field (e.g. systems engineering, software engineering, business process engineering).
At least ten (10) years’ experience in this or related field and familiarity with task analysis, user interface design, and usability testing.
At least five (5) years of user-experience design and testing experience.
Job Description:
Seeking a Usability/Human Factors Engineer to join the software development team, developing and sustaining integrated, feature-rich capabilities that modernize visualization and presentation tools.
Provide application development and support to tools that allow mission analytic users to view existing data or contribute new information in a collaborative environment.
Focus on solving user experience challenges on a highly complex application used by a wide range of users.
Work with developers, managers, and system engineers to keep the product modern and cutting edge.
Research and document user workflows, design and create mockups, engage with users, and interact with the development teams using tools such as Axure and Adobe Creative Cloud Suite.
Required Experience:
Directly conduct usability testing and work closely with product designers and process engineers developing applications.
Design and develop user surveys to obtain user feedback.
Use task experience in each of the usability and software engineering cycle phases (analysis, design, implementation, and deployment).
Work closely with users (analysts) to research and document user profiles, analysis tasks, workflows, and user scenarios, and create user interface designs from specifications.
Desired Experience:
Professional certifications such as Certified Human Factors Engineering Professional, Certified Usability Analyst, or equivalent.
