Job Overview The Associate Hazard Communication Regulatory Compliance Specialist is an entry‑level position in USP’s Hazard Communication Program (HCP). The role supports the preparation of Safety Data Sheets (SDS), hazard labels and compliance with the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) Hazard Communication Standard.

Key Responsibilities

[60 %] Under supervision of senior staff, research toxicological, chemical and physical properties of USP chemical products to determine acute and chronic human health hazards, physical hazards relating to fire and accidental release, and hazards to the environment, and create SDS and labels.

[40 %] Provide handling categories, potency evaluations and other required safety information to USP staff and customers as required by law or request.

Remote Requirements Remote employees must reside in one of the following states: MD, VA, DC, PA, WV, CA, MI, IL, KS, FL, NC, or MN.

Qualifications & Competencies

Bachelor’s degree in chemistry or a related science discipline.

Excellent written and oral communication skills, especially for rapid, time‑sensitive team environments.

Strong research, critical thinking, data analysis and information evaluation skills.

Highly organized, detail oriented, able to work independently and as an effective team member.

Proficiency with MS Word, Excel and database applications.

Preferred Knowledge

Knowledge of toxicology, industrial hygiene, hazard and risk communication, and chemical regulation.

Supervisor Responsibilities None; this is an individual contributor role.

Compensation Base hourly rate: USD $32.97–$41.85 per hour. Target annual bonus: varies by level.
