Primary Function/General Purpose Of Position The Early Head Start (EHS) Teacher will contribute to the planning and implementation of a developmentally appropriate educational program that will provide children comprehensive quality services that meet the individual needs of infants, toddlers, and preschoolers being served.
Essential Job Functions
Assesses development of children and sets goals for their development, plans individualized curriculum to help children meet goals
Assists with providing coaching and guidance to ensure the successful inclusion of children with special needs in regular classroom activities
Exhibits an ability to work independently and effectively with all infant and toddler age groups
Oversees the health, safety, and well-being of all center-based children
Adheres to safe sleep, health, and safety protocols
Documents children’s growth and development using written observations, photography, work samples, and assessment tools in hard copy and online database systems
Reports directly to the Child Development Specialist, Lead Teacher and/or a member of the leadership team concerning the Child Development Programming and other job responsibilities

Licensing/Certification
Childcare Center Director Certification – Maryland State Department of Education – Office of Childcare (required)
90‑hour Child Care Certification and 4‑hour Infant/Toddler Certification – Maryland State Department of Education (required, Child Development Associate credential – CDA within 6 months of hire date)
CPR and First Aid Certification (preferred)
Shaken Baby Syndrome Certification (preferred)
Child Abuse and Neglect Certification (preferred)
Support in Breastfeeding (preferred)
9‑hour Communication – Maryland State Department of Education (preferred)
Teaching Strategies GOLD assessments (preferred)
Child Development Associate (CDA) Infant/Toddler Certification (preferred)
Education High school diploma (required)
Work Experience 1 year of progressive, related experience (required)
Training Microsoft Word and Outlook software (required)
