Responsibilities

Write and implement departmental goals in conjunction with HCA plans.

Formulate and implement medical program policies and procedures.

Manage work schedules within the medical operation and collect & report data & statistics for monthly reports.

Supervise allied health contract staff.

Manage medical operation, with assistance from clinical exempt staff, in the HCA’s absence.

Respond to information requests on behalf of HCA.

Investigate & respond to inquiries about healthcare concerns raised by inmates, inmate families & other interested parties.

Manage purchasing, procurement & monitoring of medical operation’s resources.

Manage business functions of the administrator’s office.

Process timesheets & leave forms.

Process bills for payment.

Manage medical inventory.

Provide administrative supervision to clinical staff.

Ensure compliance of all medical staff with departmental policies, protocols, rules & directives.

Provide administrative on‑call for medical operation.

Assist HCA with coordination of medical care delivery, including quality assurance & infectious disease management.

Assume administrative responsibility & authority in the administrator’s absence.

Perform public relations duties: research & respond to & complaints & furnish information & explain programs to the public.

Work on special assignments & projects as directed.

Prepare reports, publications, memos & presentations for dissemination outside the work unit.

Attend conferences, training & meetings as directed.

Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

4 years of training or 4 years of experience in business administration, management science or public administration.

Or completion of undergraduate core program in business administration, management science or public administration; 2 years of training or 2 years of experience in a supervisory, administrative &/or managerial position.

Or completion of undergraduate core program in an academic field commensurate with the program area to be assigned per approved Position Description; 2 years of training or 2 years of experience in supervisory, administrative &/or managerial position or staff position involving planning, research &/or policy/procedure development.

Or 1 year experience as Program Administrator 1 (63122).

Or equivalent of Minimum Class Qualifications For Employment noted above.
