Meritus Health is now hiring a
Registered Nurse
for our Wound Center. The RN in this role will provide comprehensive assessment, advanced wound treatment, patient and family education, and care coordination—working closely with physicians, nurse practitioners, and other care team members to support optimal healing.
Key Responsibilities
Perform wound assessments, treatments, and evaluations for patients.
Implement and monitor evidence‑based wound care protocols, including negative pressure therapy, compression therapy, and use of bio‑engineered tissue products.
Coordinate care between inpatient units and the outpatient clinic, ensuring continuity and follow‑up for complex wound cases.
Provide patient and family education on wound prevention, nutrition, and home care techniques.
Collaborate with the interdisciplinary team—physicians, dietitians, physical therapists, and case managers—to create individualized care plans.
Document wound care assessments and progress using the electronic medical record (EMR).
Serve as a clinical resource and mentor to nursing staff regarding wound care practices.
Participate in quality improvement initiatives and ongoing professional development related to wound care management.
Minimum Qualifications:
Education - ASN required. BSN Preferred.
Experience - Minimum of one year of experience in a hospital setting required.
Licensure/Certification - Specialty certification recognized by the Magnet Recognition Program™ preferred. Current license to practice as Registered Nurse in the State of Maryland, or if resident of a state that participates in Nurse Multi‑State Compact agreement, holds Registered Nurse License from that state that is designated as "Compact" or "Multi‑State Privilege" using primary source verification and provides additional documentation as required by the Maryland Board of Nursing. RN License from a compact state with a designation of "Single State" does not meet the requirement and nurse must obtain a Maryland license. Specialty certification preferred.
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities - Ability to apply the standards of professional nursing practice with compassion and empathy. Basic computer skills required. Must possess a high level of organization and communication skills.
