Position Overview County Caseworker 2 (Local Government) – Bedford County MH/ID (Multiple Vacancies)

The Bedford‑Somerset Developmental and Behavioral Health Services (DBHS) envisions that each person we serve has a network of family, friends, advocates, and supportive services that enable them to live a full and productive life in the community. You will build rapport with consumers of all ages and their families, advocate, monitor service delivery, link individuals to resources, develop social supports, and promote self‑determination.

Responsibilities

Provide case management to individuals meeting criteria for developmental delays, mental health, and/or intellectual disabilities.

Monitor, link, and evaluate services; make referrals as needed.

Provide direct individual contact and face‑to‑face case‑management services.

Meet productivity standards set for the program.

Schedule and facilitate meetings to develop individualized service plans with involvement of the individual and/or family.

Enter and maintain information in computerized database, state computer systems, and charts in accordance with regulations.

Provide crisis intervention services as needed.

Work in cooperation with Agency staff, supervisors, other providers, and community resources.

Link individuals to transportation services or transport individuals to appointments as needed.

Attend meetings, staffing, and trainings as needed; may provide coverage in Somerset County and perform other related duties as assigned.

Work Schedule & Additional Information

Full‑time employment.

Work hours: 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM, Monday–Friday, with a 30‑minute lunch break.

On occasion staff may need to work outside the set work week to complete projects, meet demands, or in the event of an emergency; hours may vary to meet consumer needs.

Reports to the DBHS Office in Bedford.

Telework: Upon hire, new staff begin training and are on probation for 6 months. Eligible for hybrid on‑site and remote work after 3 months.

Minimum Experience and Training Requirements

Six months of experience as a County Caseworker 1; or

Successful completion of the County Social Casework Intern program; or

A bachelor’s degree with a social welfare major; or

A bachelor’s degree which includes or is supplemented by 12 college credits in sociology, social welfare, psychology, gerontology, criminal justice, or other related social sciences and one year of professional social casework experience in a public or private social service agency; or

Any equivalent combination of experience and training that includes 12 college credits in sociology, social welfare, psychology, gerontology, criminal justice, or other related social sciences.

Applicants will be considered to have met the educational requirements once they are within two months of graduating with a qualifying degree/credits.

Other Requirements

PA residency requirement is currently waived for this title.

You must be able to perform essential job functions.

Legal Requirements

You must pass a background investigation.

This position falls under the provisions of the Child Protective Services Law, which requires a conditional offer of employment contingent upon satisfactory criminal history reports (PA State Police, Child Abuse history clearance, FBI clearance).

This position falls under the provisions of the Older Adults Protective Services Act, which requires a conditional offer of employment contingent upon satisfactory criminal history reports (PA State Police, FBI clearance).
