Manufacturing Maintenance Technician (Day Shift) Nature's Bakery

SUMMARY : The primary role of the Maintenance Mechanic is to provide competent and effective electrical and mechanical maintenance support to the plant and facility operations in a safe manner. The technician will maintain, adjust, and repair plant machinery to meet industry standards while ensuring compliance with USDA, OSHA, FDA, EPA, and local regulations. The position requires a flexible schedule focusing on preventive maintenance and timely repairs.

Schedule:

6 a.m. – 6:30 p.m., 2‑2‑3 schedule.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Installed, troubleshoot, and repair manufacturing equipment such as assembly lines, conveyors, forming machines, mixing (oven operations is a plus).

Follow work instructions and OSHA safety rules, including PPE and other safety equipment.

Diagnose problems, replace and repair parts, detect and replace defective items, test and make final adjustments for high‑speed production equipment.

Diagnose and repair all electrical functions.

Prioritize and triage in a fast‑paced work environment.

Maintain equipment according to diagrams and manufacturer specifications while following preventive maintenance work orders and scheduled PMs.

Generate work orders and parts requests.

Use machine shop equipment and related machines to repair parts or fabricate modifications.

Complete work orders and PMs and documentation.

Use mechanical and pneumatic processes, including cylinders, glue machines, and data coders.

Operate equipment such as forklifts, scissor lifts, and other appropriate equipment.

Maintain current GMP, safety, food safety, and technical knowledge by actively participating in training.

QUALIFICATIONS

2+ years of experience in the food manufacturing industry.

4 years as an experienced maintenance mechanic.

PLC experience is a plus.

Able to work a 12‑hour shift rotation, including weekends and occasional overtime.

Follow manufacturing specifications and schematics.

Knowledge of food‑grade aluminum and stainless‑steel welding techniques.

Complete knowledge of fabrication techniques.

Electrical knowledge and packing machinery experience a plus.

Possess full complement of necessary hand and power tools.

Multitask, prioritize, and be self‑motivated.

Knowledge of tools for industrial maintenance, including broaching, milling, and lathes.

Communicate safety issues and understand safety equipment information.

Basic knowledge of control power and main power.

Identify and understand different lubricants and their use.

Knowledge of welding techniques (MIG, TIG, Acetylene).

Understand pneumatic and water systems.

Use soldering techniques.

Read electrical schematics.

Identify appropriate motor frame, power load, and amp draw.

Have personal professional electrical tools, including voltmeter and am meter.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE A high school diploma or equivalent is required. Complete working knowledge of the manufacturing process, typically resulting from a minimum of five years' experience in related jobs.

LANGUAGE SKILLS Ability to read and interpret quality documents, safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS Requires regular talking or hearing, frequently sitting, occasionally standing, walking, using hands, handling, and reaching with hands and arms. May lift or move 50‑75 pounds. Vision requirements include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.

WORK ENVIRONMENT Occasional exposure to moving mechanical parts and energized equipment. Noise level varies depending on tasks.

POSITION TYPE/EXPECTED HOURS Full‑time, non‑exempt, 40 hours per week. May require additional hours depending on business needs.
