AUTOMOTIVE TECHNICIAN - ENGINEERING

The 034Motorsport Engineering Department is growing rapidly, and the team is in need of a dedicated Automotive Technician with a focused effort on enhancing and maintaining our fleet of R&D test vehicles and support vehicles. The Automotive Technician's role in Engineering is critical to the team's ability to develop, test, revise, and release new performance products to Audi, Volkswagen, and BMW markets. This is an exciting opportunity to join a fast-paced and innovative team responsible for driving the growth of 034Motorsport. The responsibilities of the Engineering Automotive Technician include, but are not limited to:

Product Development Support:

This involves the removal of OEM components to allow the Engineering team to perform 3D scanning and measurements for new products, as well as the installation of prototype performance products to verify optimal fitment and enable performance testing. This includes in-house 3D printed mock-ups, as well as manufactured prototypes, 1st articles, and final production parts. Install instructions will also be captured by an engineer during one or more of the above installations. Communicating installation insights with the engineers will be a valuable contribution to the final install instructions we provide to our customers and shops.

Dynamometer Vehicle Testing:

All R&D test vehicles frequently see dyno time for ECU/TCU calibration and performance analysis of power-adding hard parts. The Engineering Automotive Technician is responsible for loading test vehicles onto the dyno, safely strapping the vehicles down, then unstrapping and unloading the vehicle from the dyno once testing is complete. It is also the Engineering Automotive Technician's role to maintain the appearance and tidiness of the dyno room.

Track Testing:

All R&D vehicles see frequent circuit and drag strip track testing to validate product performance and reliability, handling characteristics, and acceleration and braking evaluation. The Engineering Automotive Technician is responsible for all R&D test vehicle pre-event track preparation based on per-vehicle instructions provided by the Engineering team as well as preparation and loading of the transport truck and trailer. The Engineering Automotive Technician drives the truck and trailer to and from these testing events. During the testing event, this role is responsible for maintaining all test vehicles at the track, which involves fueling, servicing brakes, and any necessary mechanical maintenance and adjustments. After the events the vehicles must be returned to their street specifications provided by the Engineering team. Fleet Maintenance:

All R&D vehicles and transport vehicles require ongoing general maintenance. The Engineering Automotive Technician is responsible for maintaining records for all normal maintenance actions for these vehicles, proactively advise the engineering team of any upcoming required maintenance for scheduling purposes, and periodically inspect vehicles for abnormalities/issues that require technician attention.

General Service Support:

The Engineering Automotive Technician will occasionally be required to assist the Service Department on booked service jobs when there is no current technician needed for Engineering. This work will include both routine maintenance, repairs, as well as performance work. 034Motorsport offers an exciting work environment with the opportunity to grow your career along with the success of the company.
