7–10% no prenatal care
High Spanish-speaking population

Vaginal exams (travelers from teaching facilities must be proficient)
Scalp electrodes
Circulating C-sections
Newborn transition & APGAR scoring
Assist anesthesia
IV starts & blood draws
Postpartum hemorrhage management
Epidurals
Amnio infusion
Preferred (not required):
Spinning Babies experience
Water birth familiarity
Drips & Medications
RNs must titrate:
Magnesium
Pitocin
Insulin
Blood products
Certifications (Required)
BLS
NRP
AWHONN Intermediate or Advanced

T-piece resuscitator
EFM System: CPN Centricity
Telemetry:
OB RNs do not read tele
Charge/relief charge & some core staff have ACLS
Scheduling
Shifts: 6:45 AM–7:15 PM / 6:45 PM–7:15 AM
Weekends:
3 weekend shifts per 4-week schedule
Nights: Fri/Sat
Days: Sat/Sun
Holidays
Requirement: 2 out of 3 holidays (includes eve/day of)
On-call: Available but not mandatory
Traveler must agree to holiday requirements during interview
Call & Floating
On-Call: Low census only

NICU / Peds / Women’s
Med-Surg or ICU (downgraded or RDU assignments only)
Antepartum patients
L&D nurses must care for the baby for 2 hours post-delivery. Nurses without postpartum experience will not be sent there but must be able to take antepartum patients.
