Department Operating Room: A 12-bed, highly skilled unit caring for patients with higher acuity requiring a variety of surgical specialties for the Denver community, Colorado, and surrounding states. The OR operates 24/7, supporting minimal call while providing exceptional care. The team includes nurses and certified surgical technicians (CST) performing a range of surgeries including bariatric, ENT, spine, neurosurgery, GU/GYN, plastics, gender reassignment, pediatric, oral maxillofacial, ophthalmology, orthopedics, oncology, urology, and vascular surgeries. Nurse-to-patient ratio is 1:1. Job Summary Under the supervision of an RN, the surgical technologist participates as part of the perioperative nursing team, performing direct and indirect tasks for pediatric, adult, and geriatric surgical and endoscopy procedures. Responsibilities include preparing supplies and equipment, scrubbing for surgeries, patient transport, and potentially working in sterile processing or the OR. Performs scrub duties during surgeries under surgeon supervision, including holding retractors and passing instruments, in accordance with Colorado statutes. Essential Functions Function as a scrub tech for various surgical procedures, maintaining sterile fields, pulling supplies, and facilitating room turnover. Perform surgical counts under RN supervision, maintain instrument sets, and ensure sterilization per standards. Handle medication administration with proper checks, labeling, and documentation. Transport patients, specimens, blood products, and medications as needed. Assist with applying casts and splints, report equipment issues, and teach precepting students and new staff. Maintain supplies and certifications, and participate in data collection for quality improvement. Education High School Diploma or GED required. Work Experience 1-3 years in healthcare required. Licenses BLS from AHA or Red Cross, CST from NBSTSA, and Surgical Technologist license from DORA required. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Proficiency with medical equipment and instruments, safety protocols, and effective communication skills. Ability to precept others, assist with casts and splints, perform environmental maintenance, and support clinical operations. Shift PRN/Intermittent Salary $26.47 - $39.71/hr
