GI Technician - Specialty Procedures

Schedule/Shift/Hours Full Time - Days - 10 Hour Shifts
Position Summary
The GI Technician is a key member of the hospital’s endoscopy team, responsible for assisting in diagnostic, therapeutic, and emergent endoscopic procedures. Working in a fast-paced, patient-centered environment, the GI Technician supports physicians, nurses, and anesthesia staff by ensuring the safe and efficient operation of endoscopic equipment and specialty devices. They are also responsible for maintaining sterile conditions and providing direct patient support throughout procedures, including but not limited to: ERCP’s, EUS’s, Food Bolus Removal, Push enteroscopy, and GI/esophageal variceal bleed procedures. Responsibilities
Prepares, operates, and troubleshoots specialized endoscopic equipment and supplies before, during, and after procedures Assists physicians and nursing staff during endoscopic procedures Documents procedural information accurately and timely in the electronic health record Ensures all equipment and endoscopy suites are clean and adhere to infection control standards and manufacturer guidelines Transports patients to and from the endoscopy suite as needed and assists with positioning and monitoring during procedures Collects and processes tissue and/or fluid specimens as required Monitors inventory levels and restocks supplies as needed, reports equipment issues promptly Follows strict hospital protocols related to patient safety, infection control, and equipment handling Participates in ongoing training, competency evaluations, and quality improvement initiatives Available to cover assigned on call shifts Maintains competency in the use of specialty equipment and supplies and the indications for their use Performs other related duties as assigned Familiar with standard concepts, practices, and procedures within the field Regular and predictable attendance is an essential job function Competent to meet age specific needs of the unit assigned Requirements and Minimum Qualifications
High School diploma or equivalent preferred State of Idaho Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) or national CMA certification by AAMA, NHA, or NCCT required Knowledge of Sterile Techniques and procedural competency Comply with ethical, professional and legal standards inherent in patient care and professional conduct BLS required Working Conditions
Must be able to lift and move up to 35lbs Must be able to maintain a standing and/or sitting position Typical equipment used in a clinical job Must be able to stoop, crouch or bend Must be able to push, pull or transport heavy equipment Must be able to assist in patient transfer Benefits Spotlight
