Landscaping Pest Control Technician

to join our growing team. This role is essential to keeping our clients’ properties thriving—you’ll be the expert identifying turf and ornamental needs, diagnosing problems, and applying treatments that protect and enhance their landscapes. Position Summary

The Landscaping Pest Control Technician is responsible for servicing commercial properties on a designated route, applying pesticides and fertilizers, diagnosing plant/turf issues, and ensuring safe, accurate, and effective treatment applications. Primary Duties & Responsibilities

Application & Treatment Apply pesticides, fertilizers, and specialty treatments to turf and ornamental plants.

Hand-spread granular fertilizer in beds and turf areas.

Operate, calibrate, and maintain Z-Spray, backpack sprayers, manual spreaders, and spray trucks.

Mix chemicals according to precise label rates—no cross-contamination of tanks or products.

Blow off hard surfaces post-treatment to prevent staining; treat iron stains as needed.

Diagnosis & Plant Health Care Accurately identify at least 10 common ornamental plants and turfgrass varieties.

Identify common turf and ornamental insects, diseases, and nutrient deficiencies—and determine proper corrective actions.

Identify common weeds in our region and recommend appropriate treatment strategies.

Monitor properties for early signs of pests, fungus, stress, or irrigation issues and report findings.

Documentation & Communication Complete all paperwork and digital logs accurately (products used, rates, inventory, times, observations).

Communicate professionally with customers as needed, answering questions about treatments or property conditions.

Report property concerns or safety hazards to management.

Safety & Vehicle Responsibilities Perform pre- and post-trip inspections of trucks and equipment.

Deploy safety cones while working roadside or in high-traffic areas.

Maintain a clean, safe, and organized truck and work environment.

Follow all state, federal, and company safety policies and pesticide handling regulations.

General Meet established production rates for both granular and spray applications.

Support team members when needed and contribute to a positive, productive work environment.

Represent Estate Landscaping with professionalism, integrity, and pride.

Required Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

Valid Driver’s License

with a clean driving record (no points/accidents in the past 3 years).

BMP Certification

(or ability to obtain).

Basic Technician Training certificate.

Solid understanding of chemical sensitivities to temperature, humidity, and weather conditions.

Ability to read, interpret, and follow pesticide labels and mixing instructions.

Strong plant, turf, insect, weed, and disease identification skills (or willingness to learn quickly).

Ability to work independently and efficiently while maintaining high-quality standards.

Strong communication skills and a professional, customer-friendly attitude.

Energetic, reliable, and willing to “roll up your sleeves” in a growing, family-oriented company.

Environmental Working Conditions

Work performed outdoors in changing weather conditions (heat, humidity, rain, etc.)

Exposure to fertilizers, pesticides, and other landscape products (with proper PPE provided).

Physical Requirements

Ability to lift and carry up to 50 lbs; occasionally 100 lbs with assistance.

Able to stand, walk, bend, lift, and stretch for extended periods.

Normal hand/eye coordination and ability to grasp small objects.

Ability to distinguish color (important for diagnosing turf/plant issues).

Ability to drive to multiple job sites daily.
