About the Role We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate NYS Certified Special Education Teacher. The successful candidate will work with children ages 4 - 13 with a range of special needs and disabilities, creating individualized educational plans to help each student reach their full potential.
Responsibilities
Work with small groups of students on activities focused on goal acquisition, social skills and communication in accordance with teacher established lesson plans and a student’s IEP
Implement behavior plans in accordance with student’s BIPs and classroom behavior management strategies and collect data when needed for progress monitoring
Supervise and mentor assistant teachers
Carryover daily school routines
Work on ADL skills
Go on community outings to practice real-life skills
Work with individual student(s) or small groups of students on special instructional curriculum/projects/lessons; assisting students in the use of instructional resources
Hours: 7:30am- 3:30pm
Requirements
Bachelor's or Master's degree in Childhood Special Education (required)
Experience working with children with a range of special needs and disabilities and students with behavioral challenges
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
Ability to work collaboratively with a team
