Grammar School Classroom Teacher - Kindergarten (Leave Replacement)
Columbia Grammar & Preparatory School is seeking a leave replacement for Grammar School Kindergarten. The Kindergarten Head Teacher holds primary responsibility for the implementation and development of the CGPS curriculum and the success of its students. The Kindergarten Head Teacher is committed to continuously improving curriculum and instruction through collaboration as part of a grade level departmental team.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
Demonstrate commitment to CGPS’s mission and core values
Embrace and model CGPS’s commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion
Create unit plans that reflect sequential learning with differentiated activities based on students’ knowledge and skills.
Use department guidelines to assess and evaluate students throughout the year, maintaining records and writing report cards accordingly.
Collaborate positively and respectfully with all members of the Grammar School community, including colleagues, school administrators and families.
Any duties as assigned by Divisional Director and/or Head of School.
QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor’s degree required, Master’s degree preferred
Minimum of two years full-time teaching experience, preferably in Early Childhood
Valid State Certification is helpful but not required, preferably in Early Childhood
Proven record of high achievement in the classroom
Ability to communicate effectively and establish rapport with parents
Ability to work collaboratively and an interest in current best practices in instruction and assessment
WORK HOURS
7:45am to 3:30pm
Weekly after-school faculty and department meetings
Leave Dates: Start date January 19, 2026 - April 12, 2026
COMPENSATION The salary range for this position is $71,000- $118,500 annually, based on completed degree programs and years of experience. We also offer a warm and supportive culture as well as exceptional benefits, including but not limited to:
